My question is, would a nearly stock LNF need a pump upgrade if say they are only looking for 310-320WHP?
(I am guessing less WHP demand => less fuel damand => less fuel pressure needed) Just curious if this can be acheived with the TF tune. I am willing to guinnea pig for this also

This I need to experiment with some more. I drove my car about 100 miles yesterday, but did pop the P0087 code after a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, NLS to 4th pull. My car is bone stock other than the tune. I wasn't monitoring fuel rail pressure stuff so I don't know exactly what happened, but I've seen other LNF cars (mostly roadsters doing 5th gear pulls) hit P0087 even on gasoline.

Just out of curiousity were you about or below a quarter tank of gas? I noticed that when i am below 1/4 tank of gas and go WOT i pop P0087 quite regularly but if i am above 1/2 tank of gas it never happens. It seems as though fuel pressure is not as strong under 1/4 tank of gas.
The P0087 can be caused by several things. It basically means the actual fuel rail pressure is too far below the commanded rail pressure. This could be due to low pressure pump supply issues, clogged lines, or simply maxxing out the high pressure pump / system as ZZP said. I didn't have a chance to investigate the specific cause on mine, yet.

EDIT: I suppose the best thing to do is to try both and see which results in a more stable fuel rail pressure...

Your strengths are obviously more on the software end since that's your background, I would think you would prefer to concentrate on doing that more than actual tuning. As I'm sure you are well aware of, tuning comes with liabilities and constant support that can be a pain in the #ss. With you providing the software and an entire community of tuners out there experimenting with the tables we'd all progress WAY faster. I know I for one have figured out stuff in the EFILive and HPT software that the guys that made it didn't know or understand what it could mean or how it could be used. You've been a huge help to the LNF community, as HPT has been and now (maybe) EFI will be too. The possibilities of progressing further would be huge if all the LNF tuners were looking at what you see on your computer.

It also seemed to imply that the problem with injection window size was due to injection carrying over into the compression stroke and that going outside the injection window meant injecting fuel while the exhaust valve was still open causing soot build-up due to an improper combustion.
As for being able to lengthen the injection window, this is good news for bigger turbo setups as well as those wanting to run E85. It is a shame that we can't have an easy one stop shop for all of our LNF tuning needs, though the Trifecta + HPT is close to accomplishing that.

Anyone thought about an inline pump? This might take the strain off the low pressure. I am sure someone had to think about this, just seeing if its been tested.

all these hondas down here are running around using e85 as race gas, glad to know we finally have the option
i don't want to thread jack but could we see trifecta evolving the ezflash cable to something like this.with all the maps, and diff fuels you can tune and offer i think a simple handheld device with a couple different tunes on it would work out better then carrying a laptop around everywhere.

FWIW our local stations in Upstate, SC are all at full 85% ethanol now... i honestly dont think they ever switched the E78 this year and we never get down to E70... i only know about us having true E85 because my friend is building a race car and wanted to make damn sure before tuning it...
