Need Help Intercooler!

I have read through so many threads on here comparing all IC's. I think im going to go with Treadstone. My issue is should I go with the TR8 or TR10. Im running 23 PSi Trifecta Tune on E85, and Bolt ons. Possible plan down the road to upgrade Turbo, but not anytime soon. So what do you think TR8 or TR10??

EDIT:

Yeah actually I think its a toss up between Treadstone, ZZP, and MPX. Still cant decide they all seem to have a PRO and CON from all the reading ive done so far.

Well if it's between the TR8 and TR10, here's my opinion. The TR8 should suffice for your stock turbo setup and/or an upgraded turbo with mild power/boost levels. Anything crazy big and you should go with the TR10.

The TR10 is a really great piece that unfortunately was not made for our car. Get the ZZP.

I have no intention to bash Treadstone here so PM me if you want details of my experience installing the TR10 on my car.

I like pictures!!

Some one should make an IC Sticky with all IC listed and the pro's and Con's, Pictures, and performance results per IC. would be very helpful.

I want to be clear that I am not bashing a vendor. These are just pics from Haza's TR12 install. I don't like the clearance issues, and the crashbar is pushed out about 3/8-1/4" by sandwich-mounting the IC, but I have to admit that it is a solid mother, it has no clearance issues, and the elbows are kinda pretty.

Treadstone TR10/12 Cons:
1) Mounting - Sandwiching the IC mounts between the crashbar on the crashbar frame mount just isn't a good idea. It causes bumper cover alignment issues.
2) Clearance - The crashbar and the A/C condenser are contacted by the IC. This means rubbing and chattering. Also, with the elbows completely pushed all the way to the inlet/outlet, we still couldn't get the plastic under-panels that hug the elbows to fit without cutting on them a little bit.
3) Added leak points - Having to couple the elbows on means there is one more joint to have a possible leak.
4) 35 % of IC behind crashbar - No airflow to IC fins means inefficiency.
5) Weight - Heavy.

Treadstone TR10/12 Pros:
1) Beautiful Bitch - It's a pretty piece. Looks mean from the front. Maybe Haza will post up some pics of the finished product. I didn't get any.
2) Tough Mother - I think this thing could fill in as a crashbar. This is one tough mamma-jamma. This is the reason for the weight.
3) Extra Coupler Adds Flexibility - What is a con in one respect is a pro in another. The added couple joint adds a little more flexibility in the piping system to allow for aftermarket piping that isn't quite factory spec in routing.
4) Clearance - Absolutely no clearance issues. Sits higher than factory, I believe.

Don't ban-hammer me, admins. This is purely facts and opinions from my personal experience with the TR12. The TR10 would be the same. I don't know if Haza will get mad at me for posting the pics.

We will have our low profile ICs in stock in a couple days. They eliminate what was pretty much the only complaint we receive about our full size IC.

I still haven't seen that thing installed. With the inlet/outlet pipes in the middle of the tank, I don't see how that thing won't hang down to the ground.

I have your regular IC and have absolutely zero complaints. I am rarely as happy about aftermarket parts as I am with that IC. Well played, sirs.

the tr8 will be plenty for 90% of people on this site. the quality is great and my iat2's are always within a few degrees of ambient, so it works very well. i also like the way it looks in the grille. lol

IMO most of the intercoolers for our cars, or most turbo cars in general these days, are too big.

Does it affect the size of the IC?

sub'd like a *****... Ima need a new IC soon.. again >.<

wat are the different factors when comparing most of these ICs tho??

Price? They're all about the same price right? I think the TR8 beta cobalt kit ran about 415 +shipping? MPX- 350 shipped, ZZP about the same.. what about the Crazy steve one? GenuineSaab or watever.. I havent seen anybody mention these in a while, while back when they were all the craze I think they go for like $315 shipped.. Hahn? $8,0000?

Quality? From the horror stories(which is what I always go by) Aside from the Hahn, I havent heard any horror stories from any of em.. I've never seen or heard about anybody scrapin their ZZP IC, but it jus looks so low lol

Performance? For people that've had different ones, how do they compare to each other? And how do THEY compare to stock?Which I hear is actually a pretty good IC aside from the plastic End tanks....

some1 help me out wit some info, i need to know who to give my moneys to

Can I vote "other"? I have an ETS one on my LSJ-Turbo and I love it. Great price, performs outstanding. The other day on the highway my IAT2's were only 3* above ambient. Love it!

ETS 95-99 Eclipse 2G DSM 7" Street Intercooler

(and yea I know it's for a Eclipse, but it bolts right up)

Oh, I got thoughts............and pictures for that one, too. None of my thoughts on it are good. The pics look a lot like the Treadstone, rubbing in the same places, and mounting in the same places. Stay away from that trash at all costs.
