P0101.... not a boost leak

This will be long so bear with me. Car was running great. Recently bought the car about 3 weeks ago. Had an exhaust manifold leak after 2 weeks so had the gasket replaced under warranty. Car was running fine afterwords. Unsure of what tune is on the car but holds 22-23psi and falls off to about 19psi around red line. Has Injen Cai(replaced filter with a spectre filter for the time being) and a cat less downpipe with muffler delete. Rained hard for a few days. I go to get on the car in 1st gear and it starts breaking up really bad and falls on it's face. Threw the code p0101. I've read about 50 threads with no real solution to my exact problem. Car has no boost in 1st gear, but then sometimes it does. Will only boost up to 5-7psi, but then other times won't go over 2-3psi. Bought a new maf, didn't fix the problem. My Injen air filter was ridiculously dirty so I replaced it with a cheap spectre for now. Problem still remains. I have the updated slinger cooler from GM with metal end tanks and there is no leak from anywhere else. Sometimes the car idles fine, other times it sounds like it has cams. When it sounds like it has cams I unplug the maf and the car returns to normal idle. Sometimes when the car is idling fine and I unplug the maf nothing happens. Other times when I unplug the maf when the car is idling fine it starts to idle rough. Cleaned the maf and both map sensor with crc maf clenaer. The top maf sensor had oil on it. After I cleaned it and pulled it back out it still had a little oil residue. I'm getting no codes for the map sensors though. Car is also running ridiculously rich. Like 9-10 at wot. Short term fuels trims vary also. Sometimes they stay around 0.0 at idle, other times they are -19 to -20 at idle. For the life of me I cannot figure out what's going on. I've already spent money on stuff I don't need and don't want to spend anymore money on things I don't need. I have a scan Guage to view live data. The only code my scan gauge pulled was p0101. Hooked it up to a friends scan tool and got a few different codes. Can't remember all of them off my head but they were p0101, p0100. 2 codes for for the iat and iat2. Something about out of range. Also threw a code for turbocharger boost. Can't remember exactly how it was worded. Somebody PLEASE help me. I'm lost.

Well idk how many times I've heard p0101 is not a boost leak, just make yourself a boost leak tester and start at that. It shouldn't cost you much to do that. Plus visual inspections don't do much for a leak if they are small specially and the IC can't be checked properly without taking off the bumper

OK I'll try to make one tomorrow. I just took soapy water and sprayed it everywhere while the car was running.

Not sure if this makes a difference but I have a bov on the car and it is after the maf. Not sure if that was tuned out or makes a difference but read some posts saying that the maf had to be relocated for bov use?

These cars are not like diesels, there will not be pressure in the system at idle. Here is the link to the boost leak tester

I'm going to guess the bov is leaking or the intercooler.

engines under vacuum if its at idle. your not going to get any results like that. a boost leak tester will pressurize the system. when you spray soapy water and theres a leak, you'll see bubbles.

had this same issue mine turned out to be multiple things. The 1st is i did have a slight boost leak from my upper charge pipe. i made the home made boost leak thing (very easy step by step) and the soapy water bubbled but nothing to major so i got a AM charge pipe. Code still there. Cleaned all sensors.. still there. Replaced MAF ...still there. In the end, the pigtail to the Maf had separated internally where it was giving it a bad reading. Sometimes the car ran good other times not. Thats what fixed my problem. Hope this helps you out

Found one leak and can clearly hear another one. Bov is leaking at the flange. Only because whoever had the car before me put a hole in the adapter. (Synapse bov with a hks adapter). The other one I couldn't get to with limited access but clearly heard it coming from around the cold side to intercooler coupler area. Going to investigate further today. Also did gm come out with an updated intercooler? My intercooler looks exactly like my friends stock one with the exception that mine has metal end tanks and his has plastic.

Took a pic of the intercooler but can't load it from my phone up here. Doesn't say Zzp or Hahn. Has the same design as the stock one just metal. Still chasing this boost leak down. I may have found it. The radiator support bolt looks like it's hitting the plastic band on my cold pipe. It could have punched a hole in the rubber part. Going to throw it on a lift tomorrow while boost leak testing to be sure. Unrelated question but do you guys know who tunes cobalt around the NC area? Going to be upgrading my turbo and will need a tune for 93 and e47. Also need to figure out what tune I have. Car hits 14-16psi in first and 22-23 psi in all other gears dropping to 19psi at readline. Ran a 13.6 at 108 with a 2.5 60 ft.
