Unhappy Possibly broke my intercooler today : (

Hi everyone, I've had an interesting day to say the least.. Started well with finding I am to be flown in to have a 2nd interview with a company I really want to work for. After I got the news I decided to get my suit dry cleaned. When I was leaving I decided to go around a car going a little into the grass around the line that was waiting for stuff. I didn't notice this one big rock about 6inch or so, maybe a little more that was sitting right where I turned to exit. I went up the rock at maybe 5mph max and the car shut off. I tried to start my car and back up, but the vehicle wouldn't start. It would get the engine running then die right when it would try to level out. I got the car towed and have been looking at it and trying to decide what to do. From what I can tell, only the side plastic "tank" pieces seemed to be completely busted and the bottom single piece of metal on the bottom of the inter cooler is damaged. If I bought new tank pieces, would that bottom metal piece attach back into the tank and hold it back in place? The inter cooler is a little bent like a v but with an angle of maybe 165ish, and maybe a little crooked on its mounting now. (looks close to the radiator on the right hand side)
I couldn't take the best photos with my roommates phone. I plan on taking the bumper off this weekend and taking a better look at everything and take a few more photos.
I've looked at ZZP ( Can't find theirs with just the inter cooler an no charge piping, its the most expensive one by far... ), Hahn(), and the stock GM inter cooler prices ($424.99 for inter cooler, about $155 for each inlet, gm also needs the separate tank pieces for inlets) and I think I should be fine on installing this if it is indeed needing a replace.
Side note, I currently have charge pipes installed but they could use a nice paint job, which I plan on doing while working on everything else.

There is no "possibly" there... that thing is fucked. Pickup a bolt-in ZZP replacement. I got mine used for $250.

If you need to move the car for anything, you can do it by unplugging the maf, the car will run like **** but at least it will move.

Look on the Classifieds in here and see if you can find a stock IC. I saw one last week. If you were closed to me, in Austin, I'd give you my glued-together factory IC to get you around until you can get a new ZZP, Treadstone, or MPX unit.

With the good reviews and nice price TTR, I decided to pick up a Turbo XS Intercooler. It will hopefully be in by Wed/Thurs next week. I think I'm going to go ahead and upgrade my downpipe and maybe my intake to a nice one. I currently use the stock downpipe and I have a Dejon SRI with their hotside charge piping. I got the dejon gear used, but it seems to have bad fitment and is scratched up from hitting stuff from the previous owner and my car. The intake really likes to rub that screw that the stock air box was previously connected.

What do people recommend CAI/SRI? Which is best for my current setup interm of performance and reliability? I have 09 SS/TC with a tune from trifecta, a muffler delete, the dejon set i mentioned from before.

With my new intercooler and maybe a new downpipe/intake/bov?(maybe?) in ballpark range, what kind of power would you expect i gain/ what kind of numbers should I expect?

PS: Thanks to everyone who gave advice on the original post, I figured the intercooler was done for but its nice to get some confirmation.

i recently cracked my stocker, I purchased the IC from MPx, its awsome, fits great, doesnt hang low, rated for over 20psi (stocker is good for stock boost). Many benefits.price was 350.

Also that thing on the bottom of the stock IC is an oil catch/moisture catch.

We're expecting our shipment to be here March 1st. The normal IC's we've been selling and a higher clearance model.

curbs are my balts worst enemy... lost my intercooler 3 weeks ago to a curb i was in a rush to get to work and pulled up too far. car would idle for a sec and then cut off. very chokey sounding. pulled up VERY slow but still cracked the plastic housing. ate my pockets up a bit wouldve upgraded but still under warranty. so i got an oem... i think its ridiculous you cant replace the plastic crap, the intercooler itself is undamaged and perfect looking (only 11k miles on it) its still in my trunk lol! im wondering if anyone would want it before i scrap it for aluminum... (free you pay shipping)

p.s. love the black balt, high maintenance color but its so sexy (mines named Black Betty)

It is a moisture accumulator. Is yours hanging right now?

Mine was hanging down randomly one day, so I removed it before it caused me to bust the intercooler. I used JB Qwik to fill the holes and never had any issues until I eventually got an aftermarket one.

That radiator looks a little crooked too. I'd check for some leaks.

Yeah, for sure. Looks like he either broke or bent the upper mounts on the radiator as it seems to be completely out of the radiator subframe mounts.
