Don't you put that on me Ricky Bobby!
You think putting a de-cat pipe and a cat back would help the top end more?

I have a Solo Performance Hi-flow cat I am going to test out next week. I will let you know if cat pipes help a lot. I bet they would.

Actually we are foreseeing some issues with the 2009+model year cars from GM. They are starting a new warranty process for all 2009+ cars according to what we learned at the Arizona Automotive Council. I will try to get more info from SEMA when I go later this year.

October 4th I believe.

Its not even because of customers. The new actions are coming about because of crooked dealers. Dealers have been charging labor to customers cars and charging for parts that they want to write off when the service is never being done to the cars that they bill them for.

So they are going to have a service module plugged into the 2009+ cars that makes the car be physically present for all warranty work so the bad dealers can't F GM over. This also means that they may or may not be able to pull your ECM codes etc on all 2009+ GM cars. We don't know what this holds in store for tuning on 2009+ cars.

Sounds ugly...let's hope it does nothing more than verify that it's really your car, kind of like the computer makes sure the CD is in your drive before you fire up your favorite game. (for those of us that actually use CDs...) If they start proactively looking for reasons to void warranties, trouble would follow.

This just makes the car be plugged into GMs Service Network before anything can be billed to it. But it MAY let them pull the ECM info too.

Btw how much airflow are you seeing in stock cars vs cars with exhaust/intake/ic/cat mods?

I am noticing that power is held to a higher RPM on intercooled cars. That's about it, I don't have any hard CFM numbers. I have noticed that the cars with the "CAI" actually draw in hotter air.....oh the irony.

That totally doesn't surprise me...the snorkel on the Sol/Sky goes right to the edge of the hood, right? Like, almost sealing around the edge of the engine bay? I didn't see a stock one, but it's easy to tell that the CAI cars are only pulling in some air from the outside. The rest is nice and toasty warm from the engine.

Wonder how the Cobalt intakes will fare compared to the stock set up. The sound is certainly sweet, but if it's going to hinder performance in any way, I'll save 200 bones and get a high-flow filter for the stock unit and live with a "quieter" car.

That is one of the biggest woes of HPTuners is that you practically have to be rich to use it. Not to mention know what you are doing to some degree.

But owning a laptop, then paying another $550 for the program cost a significant amount of money. Certainly more than a $400 handheld tuner that requires no computer.

Only problem is the only handheld out there (as far as I know) that'll do this is going for 4-digit pricing.

$400 tuners exist for most other cars. Nobody bothered to get them for cobalts etc.
