Mine's completely stock, made 267 / 309 on Keith's dyno in 111 degree weather (227 / 262 baseline). I'd like to think there's a few more horses left on tap as we cool down.

hhrs aren't any different tune wise. Really soon I will have my live Internet tuning site up and will be able to tune your car from my house. All of the beta testing has been working out great! It's unreal. We talk to each other live on the computer and I do all the work.

I haven't seen anyone else do that yet. I even email you the laptop with everything on it, but it comes to you locked. You open it up and turn it on, then connect to your wireless internet. My homepage allows me to log into that laptop from any computer I want no matter where I am at the time.

You plug in the cables and all that to the car and do as I tell you, then I control the computer. I can even black out the screen if I want to hide what I am doing. Then after the first flash I set up the scanner, at which point you go drive around (you will lose internet connection), then come back and reconnect and I look over the logs and custom tune your car. I could even do it if you go to the dyno as long as they have internet connection there. (I'm sure the shop will have a fit, and probably tell you that it won't work that way and I'll have to be there to do it, but that's bull).

When I'm done I lock my files back so you don't have access to them, and shut the computer down for you. Then you ship it back to me and call it a day. All together it should take about 2 hours of your time.

If you have your own HPTuners then I don't even need to ship you the computer etc. But the cost is still the same. You are essentially paying for my time and services.

That's cool, because if they steal it they don't get the deposit back and they just bought themselves a locked laptop. these are POS laptops, nothing fancy.

That's the power of a Bank Certified Exchange policy. You can't fight the charges without a delivery confirmation that we recieved it back.

So the tunes you do for people those will be locked as well?

What happens if a person pays for a tune and later on down the line he/she wants to edit some of the work you have done for them... they will have to go through you again or can they mess with your tune if needed be?

I have never locked a tune. I just lock the laptop and the tune files on it so that they can't use the hardware to steal my tune and flash it to Johnny Ricer's car without paying me for it.

There has been so much misuse of my tune files in the past that it's sad.

I feel that their car is their car, so I don't lock the tune. But I will if people decide to dick my over. I already hide codes in my tune that I can trace later to tell if other tuners are copying my work. Some think I'll never know, but when someone sends me a log of their car and says, "I had so and so tune my car and they knew what they were doing they just need help", and then I open a compare file of my junk and it has the exact codes in there that I hide it makes me wonder how the other tuner couldn't have stolen my tune but the code sequences are IDENTICAL despite a 0.001 accuracy in the tables.

hey steve, I have followed your tuning for quite a while now and have continued to be impressed. once I can actually start tuning my car I was wondering if you could possibly give me some hints on AFR curve and timing when the time comes. reason I ask is because i believe my turbo will perform closely to the k04 and produce close to the same numbers. I know my way of tuning is completely different but id like to try and squeeze about 280whp and 315wtq out of it. I know how to tune my car, just figured you may have a couplge good tips for me to get some better spool times and quicker torque with minimal hp drop as possible.

Crazy stuff Steve....

Its sad but its part of the game.... I would look at it this way... once someone pays me for a tune let them have fun with it. If they pass it around to others that would be fine because sooner or later someone will mess up copying a tune on a different car and will blow something up.... then it would be their issue...

I guess it would be hard to do something that no one else can use / see / copy.... even on Hondata S300 that I use to tune my cousins car... I can send the file to anyone else and they can use it if they wanted to... I guess if someone wants something that bad they will get it no matter what...

Good luck with the whole thing

Thank you. I have built some 2.2L Turbo Ecotecs on Cavaliers before, but it'd be new to me on the Cobalt. I am just now getting familiar with the 2.2L engine in the cobalts, and theres a lot more there that was not previously availble in the ecotec Cavaliers.

I know you can make a lot of power out of the 2.2L. I have worked on a 2.2L making only 8psi that puts 250hp to the wheels, so I am sure if you want to go above that it is possible. I am also currently working on a 2.2L Cavalier that is making 6psi, not sure of the power because the owner is too cheap to let me take it to the dyno.

The way I am packaging the software I can hide ANYTHING I want and black their screen out at any time so they can't even take pictures of what I am doing. The technology to stop people from copying or seeing my tune is there in what I have, but I'd rather educate the customer on what I am doing to their car, so they can watch the screen and follow along with me. That shows them what they are getting for their money and also gives them time to ask me questions or ask for something particular with their tune while I am chatting with them over the speakers. It sucks that this can't be a BIGTIME issue because it is time consuming, but it will be good for those that are too remote to get a custom tune otherwise. I can't be everywhere at once, but you can pay me to be anywhere at sometime.

Okay. I can test it out with you if you still have access to HPTuners. Basically all you would have to do is download the client software I send you a link to and then log into my session and let me take over. Hopefully YOUR computer has speakers and a built in mic so we can talk without you needing to use the phone.

Great job on the latest tune, can't wait to see what you will be able to pull out of one of these cars with our upgraded setup.

Well i will be running 15lb's to start and then upwards of 20. i should make about 280whp on 20psi at my altitude. I was just wondering if you had any good suggestions on AFR curves and timing that would get my car to make peak torque like the LNF's are and hold HP as much as possible with the crappy stock cams. Once i get the money, ill upgrade my turbo to a GT2871 or GT3071.

350-400. Trial runs work extremely well.
