Selectable tune: Cruise control or Traction control
#51
Here's how it would work:
If you have the "master enable" for cruise control ON it would select one tune, and if you have the "master enable" for cruise control OFF it would select a different tune. But, the cruise control would work normally if the "master enable" is ON

I loved the tune for my LS. Can't imagine the power in this beast.
I think too many people see the ECU as a set list of things to change instead of a computer that the entire code can be changed.

That's right. This thing is a computer (that uses a CPU not unlike the XBOX 360). It has an operating system. The possibilities are absolutely endless.

You wouldn't loose booze control if you wanted to use your cruise control switch.

Well, looks like Vince decided to let the cat out of the bag.
Amazing job Vince, as always.
And this, my fellow forum members, is the difference between someone who uses software and someone who writes software. Not to mention Vince developed the computer language to communicate with the PCM.
Now for my input on the MULTIPLE tune options.
Vince, when cruise control is ON, why not leave the stock tune, or a tune specifically written to enhance fuel economy. Hence, Cruise control equals econo mode.
When the cruise control is switched "off", the GM Stage tune equivalent is turned on, performance mode.
Then, when competition mode is selected, the extreme tune is turned on, beast mode.
This allows the owner the best of everything.

Edit: Sorry, I just read page 2....
Vince, can you tell me, IF the CIA sri intake is fixed and shown to NOT lose power, can I get a retune for that intake (since aparantly I will need it based on the MAF issues as I understand them, which is barely) and my downpipe? Would I see a benefit with a retune for my parts? I don't think I would want to chance the 30lb beast when you release it, unless you can somehow prove it to be reliable and safe?!?!

i would assume so it shouldn't be too difficult

DAN I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING about the cruise control.. enable = economode off=***** 2 the walls mode. also i knew that the cat was out of the bag when that clutch thread was posted a week or two ago lol. trifecta and clear image you guys provide great support for the balts at a price to match. thanks and keep it up

I'm guessing you're calling the "Master Enable" the left steering wheel thumb button; The mute/bluetooth equivalent button, but on the left side?
I really like the fact that you can set the econo-mode without having to enable the cruise control too.

Yes...

If it is set to cruise control off, this means I'll have to set my crusie control to on in order to avoid destroying my clutch? That sounds like a daily pain in the butt. Or can you just drive conservatively in tuned mode and not hurt anything.
I like Dans Idea! Doesnt competitive mode just turn on the launch control and remove traction control while still keeping Electronic Stability control? If the tune is there, will the ESC still be there as well?

This is what I get from this:
Dont do anything: "Normal" Trifecta tuned mode
Push the left steering wheel cruise control button (the one with the light in it): Econo-mode on
Switch to Competitive Mode: Beast mode
I see a possible conflict here though. What happens if somebody accidentally leaves the amber light on and switches to competitive mode?.. which one takes priority? Sounds like a programming thing that needs to be tackled.

I think we will allow the customer to choose what they want in the order form - it seems like different people want different things - why not let everybody have what they want?
