Unhappy Trying to do timing chain tensioner... Did I make an oopsie?

I'll make it short. 09 LNF. We wanted to move the chain so that we could make sure it was at most tension. From a quick google, it was intake at 3-4 o clock and exhaust at 10 o'clock.

Anyway, My friend decided to spin the cam clockwise via the bolt, and it jumped teeth, and it sounded like a ratchet.

Now I am currently pulling the cover off and doing the chain, because I kinda just wanted to do the tensioner, but at this point, i'm doing the guides/chain/etc.

Did I **** up the VVT actuator or cam phaser or whatever its called, on the intake cam by spinning it? I'm not sure if the actuator turned or not, but it sounded like it did. maybe it was the chain skipping that made a noise

Why try and spin by the cam? Could've done it by crank bolt.

We were rushing so we didn't want to lift the car up and remove the shield to get to the crank. zzzzzz

You will be fine. Retime it. Alllllways use the crank. Donot rush because when you do is when things go wrong.
