12 sec SS/SC
So I have a theory about the stage kits, and I want some feedback from everyone.
From what Ive read, the stage kits should take approx 1.1 sec off our 1/4 mi time. Now from what else Ive read, that is 1.1 sec off the SS/SC's original 1/4mi stated by GM, which was 14.9 secs ( so the 1/4mi would be 13.8 sec ).
As we all know GM likes to under rate everything, so Im thinking we'll probably have a 1/4mi anywhere between 13.4-13.7.
Now, heres where things get sticky, and I need some feedback. I know a guy on this site that did a 14.1 1/4mi with JUST a CAI. That is a .5 decrease from our avg 14.6 1/4mi time. Now, this is just a theory, but with the stage kits, a CAI, exhaust, and maybe some slicks, our 1/4mi should easily be in the 12's, right?
I was also wondering too if anyone knows what the best CAI and exhaust systems are available for the SS/SC in terms of performance.

That's if you get traction and you're powershifting into every single gear. However I highly doubt a 12 second run with just the stage kit. The fastest maybe a 13.5 MAYBE. It's only adding around 36 hp. Yeah it might be under rated but you're going to need at least 100 more hp than stock to even consider breaking into the 12's.

the best mod is the driver. practice your launches, shifting, everything. i dont know about 12s with just the kit, but with stickier rubber and a helluva driver, its possible

I think with all that stuff(stage kit, CAI, exhaust, header, and good driving), i dont see a problem getting into the high 12's. you never know what could happen. sounds resonable to me...

Good to see that Im not crazy and my guesstimate is somewhat accurate according to other peeps. NOW ALL WE NEED TO DO IS FIND THE BEST EXHAUST AND CAI AND WE CAN TAKE ON THE 390HP 1999-2004 SVT COBRA! O yea!
FYI: They run 12.9 1/4mi avg

Although GM quoted 14.9 second 1/4mile...that too was conservative. I have read a ton of magazine reviews and they range from 14.4-14.8, and i have seen them at the track - sotck running 14.4 and 14.5 so lets start there.
The staged kits is saying .3sec off for stage 1 and .7 secons of for stage 2....but is that .3 +.7 ? or is that stage 1 & 2 give .7 second off total?
Either way..I will soon have header back exhaust and an intake, and dyno next week, then i will be either doing the GM stage 2 kit or the Intense stage 3 in the spring (its cold as hell here right now) and i will hit the track.
So hopefully one of these people (maybe me) with 270+ WHP will track it and we can see from the trap speeds and times what the car is capable of...i am expecting low-mid 13's personaly with all the bolt ons.

I will be in the 12's by the end of the summer, they are not that unrealistic, traction is the key. An example, take a stock camaro Z28. Underrated at 305, it puts apx. 290 down at the wheels. Stock it runs about a 13.6 and weighs 3850. Every 100 pounds is worth about a tenth, and also the 13.6 is with poor stock tires on the camaro. With 290whp, 1000 pounds lighter than a camaro and with good traction 12's will be no problem for these cars.

yeah you can do it at this weight, on stock internals except injectors and on the m62, you just gotta know how to do it
