How is the cam install on our cars? I've done one on a Honda B16. I hope its not as bad as my Cavalier 2.4 was.

It doesn't say that it includes the adjustable cam gears, so that might be something else you'll have to purchase.

guys i really dont think that a s/c car with a max of 18psi will get that much from cams. i have been suprised befroe with gains from things but it just is too much. it isnt as easy as opening up the valves longer as in an na car. cars that come stock with fi are pretty efficient when it comes to their cams unless u have a lot of boost. u guys will get something, but unless ur over 20psi, i think the gains will be more like 10whp. just my 2cents.

I'm not playing down the gain from the cams, but I'd be pissed if I spent $350 plus on a cam for my small block 350 and only got 19 whp, let alone $600 plus like these cams. I may look for cams later on, but imo the best bang for the buck mod right now is the revitup pulley kit. Less money, more power to the ground. Cranking up the boost is the way to get maximum power from boosted cars, cams will do little compared to more boost...untill the blower is maxed that is.

Cams really aren't all that hard, it'll take a whole days work to do it though. Do we even know if these cams run on our cars without throwing a whole series of codes?

Here is the answer of JBody to a e-mail I wrote to them:

We are actively seeking new cars to test our camshafts on! Excited as we are, we only have one customer to date with our 2.0L SC camshafts.

They are working flawlessly in his car, with no codes and no issues. (We also hope it stays that way!)

As of now, we are concentrating on the Cobalt... and are trying to purchase a brand new one to perform our planned modifications on.

Thanks,
JbodyPerformance

I think you guys will see nice improvements from cams. From the look of these cams, low end is what they are more focused on, not top end.

Emissions shouldn't be a problem nor throwing any codes. Might have to adjust the idle a little though, but that is easy to do.

If anyone wants someone to put them in and is around the GA area, I am more than up for it.

Thumbs up Go COMP CAMS

Go wth comp cams! There specs are 423 in./436 ex. lift 210 in./218 ex @ .50 lobe sep is 113. Less lift than JBP both increased duration, which is more important!!! And their factory price is $479. Better cam, better price! Also designed to work w/ all factory valvetrain!

We have too much low end stock hence the wheel hops on take off. Granted, the torque braces will help but we need more top end.

Yea, it's the emissions thing I worry about. And they've only experimented on one SS. I would wait a while to buy them.

hey guys, just thought I'd post a little update as to the cams; being the only one i know of with them. in the cold weather there's even more power from 2500rpm to redline and It feels as though the rev limiter is a bottle neck in making more power. so far, im interested in finding a way to bump the limiter up 500rpm or so. all i can say so far is money well spent, there's no codes and a lot of exhaust tone differences. to date, i have intake, cams and am working on saving for a psi-fi kit. i think with this current combination, i should be able to hit 250-260whp if i take it to the dyno. i cant keep the tires from lighting up. not bad for only $1000 invested into the car. and witht eh psi-fi, I should be able to get even more power out of the car.

Have you done some before and after dyno runs with the cams ? What were the numbers, what was the dyno ? In 3th gear or 4th gear ? Thanks !

tuning is required for ANYTHING you do to get the most power out of it.

Uh yes I know that, I'm not talking about getting the most power out of it, I'm talking about simply installing it and having no problems like idle surges or stalling out when turning on the AC etc.
