2.0 valve cover gasket ....is it re-useable

Ive never had the valve cover off my car and I dont want a simple project to turn into a mess today because I cant get gaskets locally today . Alot of the new GM valve covers gaskets are re-useable rubber ones or re-useable 0-rings . Is the 2.0 gasket and spark plug hole gaskets re-useable or are they the old school 1 time your done ?

Check your PM's bro! For everyone else though, I reused mine and it works great. Just wipe down the gaskets clean, and ensure the cylinder head mating surface is clean as well. No leaks!

Make sure you use the Proper Torgue setting! Is a Rubber gasket only need to Torgue it to 89 lb in. 89 lb in = to 7 1/2 Ft lbs
You Do NOT have to remove the Fuel Rail!
Removal

Reeplacement!

You can reuse it as said earlier. But make sure the surfaces are extremelly clean, if they're not then you'll have a mess on your hands

I manage a collision center and would highly suggest buying a new one. They are re-useable to an extent, but better to be safe than sorry.

Replaced Several of these Here Local & Some Members elsewhere! There is No Problem for Reuse, Unless rubber is Crushed or Damaged from over Thighten or You have alotta of Miles, Then I would replace the Gasket! The Torgue Settings are so Light, That It Should not ever warp the Valve Cover!

PS: Even Gm Doesn't call for replace! Unless stated above!

I have always re-used the rubber gaskets without fail .....I just was not sure if the ecotec used that type of valvecover gasket or not .

Thanks for the info guys , I heard the info I wanted to hear

Those dealer service manuals are priceless to have around . I'm too cheap to buy though , I always just check them out at the library when needed .
