Are the 2.2 and 2.4L heads the same as a 2.0L?

Are the 2.2 and 2.4L heads the same as a 2.0L?

Specifically,will an exhaust manifold made for a 2005 2.2/2.4L bolt up to a 2006 2.0L head?

Can you stroke a 2.0 with a 2.4L crank using new rods/pistons and a balance?

Are the 2.4L motors pretty much the same as the 2.0 S/C with the exception of crank, rods, pistons and blower?

A 2.4L built motor w/turbo would surely send my car into orbit. Thanks!

It's the same engine family, but the LSJ (2.0) head is different from the 2.2, and the 2.4 is still different from both the 2.0, and 2.2, because of the VVT.

As far as I know (definately could be wrong) the engine blocks are the same, and the crank, rods, and pistons from the 2.4 will fit in a 2.0. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

EDIT let me rephrase, you cannot interchange internal parts, such as cranks, rods, and pistons amongst motors.

For instance, you cant use a 2.4 crank, 2.2 rods, and 2.0 pistons. You could however use a 2.0 block, stuffed with 2.4 rotating assembies, and a 2.0 head.

you can swap rotating assymblies between the cars. But you won't be able to bolt an lsj tranny to a 2.2 or 2.4 rotating assymbly.

You can put a 2.0 head on a 2.2 block or vice versa, the only thing that would hold you back that I'm aware of is the cam sensor.

You could physically swap the 2.4 head onto the other blocks, but the vvt mean you would have to make some electrical changes.

I'm not totally sure if you could swap rods onto the different cranks. It would all depend on the size of the crank journals.

All manifolds from any type(2.0, 2.2, 2.4) will bolt straight to their counterpart. For example, I could bolt the lsj supercharger/manifold assymbly straight to my 2.2 with no fabrication. As far as I know 05-06 2.2+2.4 exhaust manifolds are slightly more restrictive than the lsjs. 07+ are the same manifold with sai changes.

So a 2.0 lsj transaxle will not bolt to a 2.4L block? Or is the clutch assembly the difference?

I was thinking of getting a boneyard 2.4 and swapping the rods and pistons for forged units and having the rotating assy balanced.I would then use a 2.0 Hiflow head (Rebelworxs) with turbo cams/springs.
A Fidanza flywheel and stage 3 Spec clutch should round out the package nicely.
With a proper turbo kit, I shoud be looking at a strong, dependable motor setup.

But,in the meantime,(while I am building the 2.4),I was looking at turbo kits and most are listed for 2.2 and 2.4L Ecotecs.
Maybe I'll just spring for the 2.0L Rebelworxs turbo kit as it sounds like a nice combo.

Has anyone installed a Rebelworxs turbo kits or are they still waiting to ship?

well the vvt with the 2.4 could be very beneficial. I'd suggest just porting the 2.4 head rather than swapping for a 2.0

as far as bolting the 2.0 tranny to the 2.4, it's the flywheel that's the problem. the 2.0 uses an 8 bolt pattern while the 2.4 uses a 6 bolt if I'm not mistaken. I think one person managed the swap, but used an expensive adapter plate.

If you did use a turbo kit meant for the lsj, you would have to pick up the lsj intake manifold, as the turbo kit is designed to bolt to it. But the fact that the lsj manifold isn't plastic like the 2.2 or 2.4 has it's own benefits.

Could you use the 2.4 flywheel/clutch setup with the lsj transaxle or is the spline different on the imput shaft?
Is the VVT on the 2.4 computer controlled or by oil pressure or?
Thanks!
