2.5 Hours For Stage 2 Install?
Just finished talking with my local dealer about getting my Stage 2 kit installed. The service manager said it would be 2.5 hours labour at $73 an hour which is 219. I live in Canada, but is 2.5 hours too long for the install, i've seen it mentioned on this site that its only supposed to be 1.5 hours, is this right? Just wondering is this a fair price in regards to how long they are charging me or should it be less? How long have most of you guys been charged for the install?
Thanks

thats actually not to bad....$73 an hour canadian is quite reasonable.
2.5 is a little bit stretched....but to be honest ive seen FAR worse quoted.....
maybe see if you can shimmy them down to 2hours....but $219 canadian for install isnt to shabby at all. Id go for it.

Most dealers quote this because their mechanics don't do them often so they take alot more time then a hot rod shop. i mean how many times in a year do you think a GM tech uses a pully puller on a supercharger? Not often plus GM always takes the charger off which adds to the time, yes I know it says to do it but the pully can be removed on the car.
Not to mention the tech is usually on the phone with GM for an hour to get the damn Flash!

I talked to the guy at Crane and he had a car in the lot with a GMPP exhaust so I could hear it.. sounds good up close and in person.. but this car was blowin black smoke...
didnt ask how much to isntall teh exhaust. that would be a rip off..

I took mine to Byers Chevrolet in Dublin, Ohio.. They didnt know the labor so they said they would call GM's Partec hotline and find out. They called me back quoting 2 hours labor. Total came out to be $176.14 and they said they didnt have to take the supercharger off.

depends how good you are with your mouth and the dealer i mean **** if you KNOW what your talking about and hardley even let them talk im sure you will get it covered but if you go in there and say yea my friend did it he drives a 94 mustang and hes not a certified tech then your screwed but i mean if you have it installed by someone other than the dealer make sure there ase certified and you shouldnt have any trouble , to tell you the truth if i could do it over again i would just have the dealer do the tune , the guy who worked on my car was as old as i was (19-20) might as well have done it myself, the only reason i did pay is so i dont have to deal with the bs if they give me any i dont feel like i can go 2 for 2 (gm has already replaced on of my CAMMED blown engines under warranty bc of my good talking)

I'd like to see a STG2 hub/pulley install on these cars with the blower left in the car. It seems to me that the 5 minutes it takes to pull the blower would be alot faster than trying to work in such a cramped space .

right in the GMPP parts book under staged kits....it says the staged kits are covered under vehicle warranty when installed by GM.
and when done by the "do-it-yourselfer" you get 12 months warranty.
