Question 3" or 2.5" cold air intake?

I've seen in another tread that our stock throttle body is 2.5" wide. So why using those 3" CAI that OTTP or ZZP make?? Only for the TVS and the LS4 throttle body?

With a 2.5" TB, would we get less power with a 3" CAI vs a 2.5" one?

only the blade itself is 2.5", and i'm not even 100% on that. but still, the outer part itself is larger than the blade. and even if it does bottleneck down to 2.5", that doesn't mean we've reached the max CFM going through it...

So a 3" intake is useless with our stock throttle body...

No a 3" intake is not useless with the stock throttle body, but you will see the best gains if you custom tune for it. What cold air intake do you know of that is 2.5" ? Even the production cold air intake is larger than that. It only looks smaller, because they gave it more of an oval shape than a cylindrical shape due to fitment needs.

Nope, they are both 2.75". Infact the stock one is 2.75" as well. The stock intake along with the Injen, K&N, and AEM are all 3" at the MAF location. Actually, the AEM is 3", but it only replaces the air box so you can't really call it a full 3" intake, haha.

Oh then ok... I think that I'm gonna go with the OTTP 3" intake. Seems more solid with a meth nozzle vs an aluminum intake plus it looks really nice when polished...

I sold my R.A.W. intake because I got bored of how bad it fit... So I need another one because I'm missing that wonderful whine!
