300whp Achieavable w/o built motor?

If this has been asked too often, please delte it**. No flaming required.

The question is, can 300whp be achieved with the stock engine/supercharger RELIABLY and safely?

Ive seen 250-260whp cars a lot but not many in the three hundred hp range. Is this considered a safe amount for this motor?

Thanks

no, you would need to build up the motor a little bit and stage kits over stage 2 arent concluded as reliable on the m62.

turbo or motor build/ stage 2

I'm no LSJ expert, but I think the only way to 300hp is really internals with a twinscrew or a turbo swap. You can only do much with the M62.

Blownss was able to make over 300hp on the stock m62. Granted he blew a piston ring but it is possible to make that power with stock parts. You would need built internals though.

So i guess the motor is the weak link to the 300whp goal then.

The pistons max power at 300hp, very unreliable. If you just replace pistons, and maybe the valve springs you should be perfectly fine.

Rods are supposed to hold 400-450 hp, more than the pistons for sure.

If you think about it. The supercharger puts about a 50hp strain on the motor. SO the motor is putting out 300 or so HP already then the supercharger sucks up about 50 then add in drive line loss ect, and you see what we are making. If you get rid of the SC you have about 50 to play with, for a turbo, granted to motor still has to push the turbo which sucks up hp but not nearly as much at the SC.

So when people are running 260 -280 reliable with he SC they can probably run 300-320 reliably with the turbo. Not to mention the air is way cooler and the ability to upgrade once you get internals to a different power level can be as easy as turning up the boost.

Thats probably why so many people such as myself are going with the turbo option

The L61 build book states you should not use the LSJ rods for anything over 350hp. If your going to replace the pistons, replace the rods too. It would be stupid not to. Rebel's turbo easily acheived 323whp on the stock engine. The procharger should easily acheive 300whp with a moderate amount of boost and much much higher at 20+psi on that C1 or C2. we will see with the twinscrew. I have no doubt it will make 300whp. Just waiting on them to iron out all the kinks.

I think it is do-able guys. Or at least pretty close.

Zinner hit 292whp/294wtq with stock internals. Here is the thread with dyno.

YES..

Good header
3" downpipe
3" Catback
Airbox mod
2.5" pulley
60lb injectors
Ported head

300whp

Ported head is going to free up 30+whp.

06BlackG85SS hit 296 a while back on a meth injected 2.55 pulley. He had been running it for a while. His car is still in one piece.

i believe 300 whp is attainable if people do it right. really good tune, h/e, dual pass kit, water/meth kit and the main thing that i never see anybody do(not saying anybody hasnt done it yet) is port and polishing the intake manifold and heads.
