300WHP build, thoughts?
OK, so I've decided against buying a new car. I think I will stick w/ my 06 SS/SC for now.
So, now that I dont need to put money on a down payment I've been thinking of upgrading for the last time. My current mod's are in my sig.
1.)Heat Exchanger - $275 - I heard this is needed as you head lower then 2.8 pulley size. I think I will buy this first and put it myself. I do have a few questions tho.
a.) how exactly do you bleed your system?
b.) Im not a mechanic or anything, but I can install a radio in our cars, and I put in my intake, would I be qualified to do this install myself and not run into any major snags? On a scale of 1-10 how hard is this to do?
2.)Meth Injection kit- $330 - I heard I need this to keep temps and iats and stuff down. Heard its better then goind dual pass. Figure w/ my setup I will want this just for reliability sake.
a.) Water/meth. I understand on average you would have to fill her up once a month? How much do you go through in a month, a gallon?
b.) Where is this liquid kept? Is there a part I need to purchase to hold the meth/water? Is it just regular water, or distilled water?
c.) What is the main difference between 100% water, 100% meth, and 50/50? Is there one recomended over the other?
d.) How hard is this to install on your own? Compare to heat exchanger. Personally I think this would be hard as crap, but I might be wrong.
e.) are they pretty reliable, like I dont have to worry about it shooting too much water into my engine by accident, or that it would just randomly stop working one day?
f.) am I looking for specific features? Like what do I need for it to turn on @ 4 PSI?
3.) 2.7 inch pulley - $50 - well I was going to go 2.6, but after reading and hearing of overspinning the blower, I decided not. This is a daily driver not a track machine
a.) I also want to increase my redline to 7200, would that be ok w/ a 2.7?
b.) I will be buying the 2.7 for the GM stage 2 hub. I assume this just hooks up like my 2.8 did. Originally I though 2.79 was as small as you could go on the GM stage 2 hub, but I guess I was wrong?
c.) w/ a 2.7 do I need to worry about belt slip or anything w/ the stock stage 2 belt?
4.) 60 lbs' seimens injectors - $220 - well I need these, since I only have 42'ers now, and I am going to go down to a 2.7 and get tuned as well.
a.) I guess I will want to have the tune shop put these in, as my car needs to be tuned for them correct?
b.) are they expensive to have installed, and do I just need the injectors or do I need rails as well?
5.) Tune - $400 - Well After all of this, if I want to make the most HP I want tuned right! I am thinking of either tune time, or intense, depending on cost, location. Since I am from delaware it will take a bit to get there.
a.) When getting dyno tuned, and after the install of all these mods what kind of HP can I expect to gain?
b.) would a RPM increase of 7200 be OK on stock internals? I just want to be able to shift at 7000-7100 every time, and never need to worry about banging the limiter.
c.) would the tune be safe for summer and winter?
d.) Is there anything in particular I should ask for when being tuned, or should I leave it in the hands of the tuner?
Well thats my upgrade path for this summer. I think I want to do it all in the next month or so. Do I have my ducks in a row or did I miss anything?
I am on the stock clutch 38,000 miles, do you think it will hold the extra power. Its fine now, im just currious, cause Id hate to have to repalce the clutch right after this lol, cause I am thinking of buying tires too.
any words of wisdom? Im definately not pro with this stuff, and I would rather learn from others, then make mistakes on my own
Once I do this, my car would be pretty much maxed out unless I want to put down some serious money right? Is this build safe for day to day driving?
Discuss, I think Ill keep this thread open for a while.

yes that is fine
4.) 60 lbs' seimens injectors - $220 - well I need these, since I only have 42'ers now, and I am going to go down to a 2.7 and get tuned as well.
dont forget the harness. get it at intense-racing or zzp
a.) I guess I will want to have the tune shop put these in, as my car needs to be tuned for them correct? no, you can install these yourself. yes they need to be tuned for your 2.7
b.) are they expensive to have installed, and do I just need the injectors or do I need rails as well?
just injectors and harness
a.) When getting dyno tuned, and after the install of all these mods what kind of HP can I expect to gain?
if your tuning for meth and you will always be running it, you should be pushing a decent amount of power once they turn your timing up
c.) would the tune be safe for summer and winter? depends. if they are tuning you now. they should run a lil more conservative because of the heat. once the air gets colder you will lean out a lil bit. dont be surprised if your a 11.8 in june and a 12.0 or higher in december
d.) Is there anything in particular I should ask for when being tuned, or should I leave it in the hands of the tuner? increase the timing. Angelo hooked me up with a phat tune. increased it by 4-5* i believe. car runs sick fast now
dont forget the smaller belt, get a tensioner pulley if you want as well. dual pass w/option b if you want... get a tb spacer for the water/meth kit. talk to fast98 about that one.
i highly doubt you will reach 300 of this...
yes that is fine

You will also need:
And LS4 TB port matched to your supercharger.

A Dual Pass endplate

And a Ported Supercharger

That will get your closer...

you don't need to port the blower. the ls4 tb is overkill. there is a lot more precautions that come with a 300 whp car than just bolt ons and a good tune.
with a 2.7, without nitrous and without cam's. you won't see 300.

IMO stick with a 2.8 especially if you want a 7200 redline, also keep in mind that your only going to be making power to about 6800, so generally 7000 is all you need (assuming you dont do internal work)
save yourself some money and buy a used cobra H/E. the whole mod including brackets and hoses can be done for under $100
take the money you saved there, and think about working on your header/dp
just a few thoughts.

Doesnt sound catless tho, but I can shoot fire out the back if I hit limiter, which is why ai dont want to worry about this!....
OK, this is my "near 300whp thread". Last time I got dyno'ed I was 274. I figure a tune, 60's, 2.7, and meth would put me in atleast the 290's.
If I do meth I should be able to get by without the dual pass right? was reading the TB thread, and I do lots of stop and go, so I dont think its a good idea for me. Porting of supercharger. I was thinking of looking into this. Might get it done after all of the above.
Prices are TBD, I just grabbed some random prices off the net.
I would love to do the Cobra one, but I dont see the cobra HE on ebay any more, and I really dont want to custom fab anything. LIke if I buy a kit with everything needed and directions, I dont need to worry about finding the right stuff at lowes or HD.

i could, but the novelty factor of having a set in public eye is not something id really go about doing. i have all the info needed to get the ground. just not the cores.
besides. what fun would that be?!?
if you push the car hard enough. i mean realllllllllyyyyyyy hard on a 2.6 you can break 300. then again, this is on a happy dyno. street numbers vs dyno numbers vary a lot

Max HP isnt really my worry.
An increase from where I stand now is.
So please ignore the 300whp comment, and I wouldnt mind some thoughts on how much HP I might gain in total from the mods listed above?
is 20-30 HP gain a possibility? or will it be less?
