It does not fall on its face at 6500 rpm. The builds power all the way up to 7000 rpm and even higher with modification.

The stock valve *springs are good to slightly past 7250 rpm. My rev limiter has been set at 7250 rpm for over a year, and i shift when my light on my interceptor comes on (7075 rpm). By the time I shift i am almost at the limiter. I have only bumped it once or twice.

It's not the valves, its the valve springs. And that's at 7600 rpms.

Valves are fine, it the springs are too soft, they need a higher seat pressure

I set my rev limiter to 7500. I'll shift at 7250 or so. I have 60k miles on the car. Been doing this for years. At the track, freeway, etc.... Engine runs fine.....

Shift at your own risk....

Yes, thats what i meant. Thank you for clarifying

GM recommends 78lb valve springs for anything past 7250 rpm. They actually say past 7000 rpm, but i have spoke to Bill (more tq more hp) about this, and he claims they will be fine slightly past 7250 rpm. Lots of people have been shifting at 7400 rpm for years w/o issue. Like Roel said "shift at your own risk".

If you want to rev to/past 7500 rpm it's recommended upgrading to neutral balance shafts.

I see how this has turned into more of a redline question. LOL. Its more about will I be ok with a tune for 42s and a 2.8 if I dont rev the hell out of it and exceed the duty cycles?

I think anyone that cares about there car on here listens. I'll give anyone the opportunity to say what they think is right. I hope there wasn't anybody who got hurt feelings from my questioning them. I just haven't seen a dyno of anyone on a stock top end (head, cams, springs) "building" power to 7000 on an M62. Don't get me wrong, I'm not bagging or trying to talk crap. If it's being done I just want to know how they are doing it. I'm too damn old to be trash talking on a forum anymore.
