I would have to agree that the aem cai and the box mod are the same thing in terms of gains. I wanted to do the the air box mod for a long time and have had a couple of my buddies pressure me into trying to make me agree with them that is was worth it. After seeing/hearing a cai for the first time I felt I wanted to looks as well as the gains. Enter injen CAI.

I have the AEM dryflow. Cut nothing on my airbox. left the bottom off... the supercharger screams. maybe not as much as if i had a full intake, but i have zero CELs, dont worry about oiling my filter, and still have the increased airflow and supercharger whine

Pros:
- Increased Air Flow
- Louder Whine
- No CEL
- No Risk of Water Entering
Cons:
- ummmm.....still thinking
- Nope...Can't think of anything

the reason i dont want an oiled filter is that its a PITA to oil it. also if some1 is overly generious with the oil its just as bad. and i dont want to cut the box off, my dealer has already done me solids, and i dont want to push my luck with something i cant put back on or revert to normal. in my case, im happy the way it is

there is only a small amount of friction holding that filter on.
the only reason you can get away with it with other filters is they use a hoseclamp to tighten on the filter neck.
I even put a wire mesh cover over for a secondary safety. because you do not want to accidentally be sucking unfiltered air into your blower.
and BTW.....the stock filter with the cover removed doesnt make jack **** difference.
its a combination of the filter and box that will give you the gains and the sound.
