AEM short ram.

Just got this installed on my ss/sc. what a complimentary mod to cams!! bottom end will not hook-up at all in first. I must feather the throttle..... no codes, definate power gains. waiting on b&m shifter. second person to purchase and install it from what jbp told me. got it from here.
Total invested in my ss/sc: $1700!

I don't see a port for the sensor, what was the install process like?

jbp did the install... they took the old air intake out, removed some plastic piece and installed the short ram... it seemed to be pretty easy, took them about 30minutes.

Hmm, interesting. This is a much cheaper alternative than a cold air. I'm surprised they were able to get a short ram to fit in the compartment.

That intake shown is for the Redline and not the SS/SC!

There is no Cobalt intake on the market from AEM.

Only the redline, which uses the stock intake box and a short pipe between it and the engine.

it looks really nice, polished pipe, vibrant air filter. i dont remembering them saying it was aem. I guess I just wanted an aem so bad...

2 questions, 1. When I made my "CAI" I noticed the sensor is right down in the wheel well. How the hell did they get it up by the engine compartment? 2. Where the hell does the pipe go? that is a pretty small pipe. Also a general question for the "experts" out there, do you think that a short ram air intake would perform better than a CAI? If so, Do you think they will ever produce one? If you think about it, yes the air would be a tad warmer but there is no restriction at all.

These are good questions. Not having FI, I am also curious as to the gains of a short ram vs. CAI on a FI car. I have a Injen CAI and based of data I've seen, short rams provide stronger low end performance (something the SS/SC doesn't suffer from) and the CAI provides better high RPM increases. The slam on short rams is that in places like AZ, the heatsoak is much worse and the gains are diminished.

Does Injen produce a CAI for the SS/SC? I'd think they'd be a good place to check into as the dyno numbers I've seen show better gains than AEM, although not drastic.

But my other question is , where would they put a Short ram air? I t would have to be the smallest piece of piping I have ever seen. I live in jeresey i don't have to worry about heat.
