alternator options for turbo

I did some searching and came across a few different ideas... Im looking into converting to turbo and get a answer for everyone wondering the same thing and for people in the future...

so far my options Ive found is the Idler bracket but like luv2race explained to me his kept bending and wasnt working so i found that option to be iffy..

2.2 alternator conversion with idler setup... again I got the same info from luv2race but remember from prior peoples post that there was a issue with getting the proper charge. luv2race said hes not having problems but I have a concern due to the fact that I have a full stereo in my car and feel it wont be able to keep up... I did think that maybe there was a size difference in the pulleys and that could possibly fix the charge issue.

2.0 turbo saab with 2.2 tensioner setup.. again same as above but may have better results due to it being for a 2.0 motor? havent found much info on this topic.

hahns top secret routing option... only people that know about this have purchased there turbo setup.

im getting rid of the whole supercharger setup and getting a manifold to replace the stock one so I would like to find a answer to what I can actually do to get proper replacement setup

pulley diameter on the 2.2 crank and 2.0 crank are the same and as far as i could tell the alts for each use the same size

but keep in mind im comparing the 2.2 alt from a cavalier , and i would think if the 2.2 and 2.4 are both using the pulley with the 1 way hub like the 2.0 uses they would be the same size , only thing you would need to worry about is the output amp ratings

Remove supercharger, SC alternator and SC tensioner.
Replace with a 2,2 alternator and exchange the SC idler for a 2,2 tensioner pulley. Install 2,2 size belt. Job done.

Only I'm not sure if the 2,2 Alt. output is also controlled by the pcm?

either run a 2.2 alt /w belt and tension set up. or weld the clutch on the lsj alt and use the 2.2 belt and tensioner.

either of witch will drop your running system voltage to the 13.8V area, after you adjust the fuel offsets you'll be ready to rock.

now if im understanding this correctly I could get a alternator and 2.2 idler setup from any ecotec? doesnt potentially have to be from a cobalt or any new gm vehicle?

getting them to work properly... it took me forever to get the short pulse with adder close enough.... then ive put a bunch of time into the ve tables just to get afrs close and its still off and its all spikey.... then again I think ive done different by turning up the dynamic air flow instead of down like I believe most do and just run straight maf

That's what I did, just upped the dynamic airflow, even though my VE is very close, screw it.

yea ive never actually figured out how to do offsets to a mathmatical term with hpt.... but for somereason no matter how close I get my afrs thru SD and maf tuning the final product seems to be slightly richer... for me.... now 05s and 06s are always dead on or within a afr .1 of a afr point

That happens, you just have to tweak it afterwards.

k cool cause it would be easier to come up with a alternator and idler from a cavalier or sunfire over a cobalt... probably cheaper too

Why not just use the idler from the 2.2 eco and stick with LSJ alternator???

It looks like it would work great.

The alternator on the 2.2 can spin in both directions and still create a charge. The LSJ alternator only produces a charge in one direction. When using the 2.2 idler it reverses the direction of the alternator.

What did you end up going with Curt?
