Another Down Cobalt

my situation:
few nights ago i did a normal dump from 5th to 3rd and had the check engine light come on and then car started bogging real bad...so i babied it to the next gas station and pop the hood and have oil everywhere...i clean it up and get it home..fast forward to today my car was down because i had a blown air line for my air bags(suspension) and so i finally get it fixed today and throw on a new magna flow exhaust from my gmpp i had..take it out for a test drive and the car bogs bad when i launch but when i get it going feels fine..get back to my garage and notice smoke coming out of my exhaust real bad..and some coming out of the hood...pop the hood and notice its coming from the oil cap..then it throws p0300 misfire over and over...now i am in a daze on what it could be..i am thinking head gasket but i wont know until i do a compression test. any suggestions on what it might be or what to look for?!

You need new pistons.... I'd go forged... call Diamond... they'll hook ya up.

I dunno what your mods are ... but excessive pressure on your crankcase caused you to **** oil up out of your dipstick... A set of forged pistons should keep that from happening as easily as it does.

Either yer rings are F$^&ED or you broke/cracked a piston... 9 times out of 10 its cyl 4 cos this is the one that runs the hottest and what not....

Happend to me twice.... once with GM Stage 2 and again on a NEW motor with Intense Stage 5.... so its all in the tune and internals....

Check your plugs too...

Yeh stock comp ratio... 9:5:1 - gonna get coated n ****

Diamond Racing.... 877-552-2112 ask for Mike

I have a 2.5 pulley and the intense stage V setup... no cooling mods like a *******... so it happens... plus I changed my exhaust to a full 3in with no cat and had an injen on there that wasnt tuned in since I added those two things... which also wasnt smart.

Get a cobra H/E and water/meth injection...

Yeh mine happend when I wasted money on Stage II.... GM messed it up, so I got a new engine... totally my fault this time. Mine is sitting in the garage at the moment. Same problem.

Keep em cool... forged pistons are we're straight.

Crank is forged already... good for 500hp and the stock rods are forged and good for about 500hp.... **** GM for givin us shitty pistons. Aside for the fact I didn't do any other cooling mods they might have held up better, so its my fault I suppose. Anyway... thats kinda the same thing I am in the middle of right now... so thats the best advice I can give ya.

I'm going turbo anyway.... and have some stuff for sale... https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...50#post1710350

why how much more power do you think you will be ble to get out of it lol. The head is a major choking point, in particular the exhuast ports are tiny and there is some power to be had there. Maybe port the intake mani like me if you want

you want a free tip from me, keep the stock 9.5:1 comp for the forged pistons, get a thinner headgasket ( gives you a tighter quench) get the head ported and give it a small mill maybe .007~.009 and that should bump the compression up a little more over stock and not be as prone to knock as say just throwing 10.1 in there
