antenna
Ok, I got my shorty antenna thinking this was going to be a 10 second install. Now there are stupid complications.
I figured I would just untwist the stock antenna the put the new one on, but all the antenna does is spin...so I look under the trunk and the welds/rivets/whatever they are on the antenna bracket holding it in place are broke. I used pliers to try and hold the antenna assembly still while I untwist the antenna but no matter how hard I clamp it, it always spins.
any ideas?

Um.... I dont have a trunk or antenna on my LSJ.
But the back end of my car does
.... Ok Smartassness aside, Ive heard/read of other people having similar problems with their antennas too. Search the forums, I think the solution is posted there somewhere. Ive never messed with mine so I dono.
Keep in mind these antennas are marconis... They need to be a spefici lengh to pick up certen frequancies (radio stations) If your going to shorten it, you need to add a coil to the antenna to compensate. (Might come with/inside new antenna)

This forum is becoming a joke. People go into theads and talk only to be a *****, or call something rice.
If you know how to help, HELP. If you dont. Just keep it to yourself.

well guess what, the stud was completely corroded and rusted, so when I got a good twist on it the antenna snapped off....so now I either re drill it and put my own stud in or Find the whole assembly online somewhere.
I need the part number of the antenna assembly
anyone know it

Want to know how I fixed mine? I used CA glue to secure a magic hat $9 bottle cap onto the grommet in order to make a weather-tight seal, and then mounted the OEM antenna on top of the rear deck so that I can still get a significant radio signal.
The shorty sucks, I tried taking it off but it was welded to the bolt from oxidation. I have my reception back and no visual antenna on the outside to slow me down.
