stage 2 may not require 2 steps colder, but the application i ran required and ran great with 2 steps.
stage 2 can have upwards of 19 degrees of timing, ive seen it more then once, on htp scans on the dyno. just speaking from what ive seen, ive also seen 17 etc.
and yes u can see knock at idle if its fuckked, but its unlikely
also in my post it specifically said BEING USED IN THE wrong application, i.e. not needed the 2 step colder plugs. That is a user error, not the products. please read the whole post
oh and ive seen lsj's running 24.5-25 degrees of timing on redline .net forums. spooner used to for a long time, as did many others.

i run 25deg of all day, i've got an unfair advantage tho.
however, if you read, i was referencing the gm S2
if every thing is "perfect" you'll 23deg out of it BUT thats not what the table is at, thats after the various adders all have there say. thus why you "19deg" post was incorrect. that number will and does vary.

ect adder
iat adder
afr adder
plus the multipliers ontop of this. what you see in the high octane table is not the actual timing number in the end.
base 10 degree's + high octane timing side + iat adder + iat adder + afr adder = true timing number.
what you see in hpt as a timing number is skewed 10 degree's because it doesn't add the bas timing into it. what it does show is the adders being added into that equation.
im not going to divuldge my timing numbers because frankly. they are mine. lets just say the car starts to gain very very minimul power after 24.5 degree's and it is not worth the wear and tear on the rod/main bearings to gain .7 hp

bump that timing!
lets see how high you can push cylinder pressures!!!!
i'm only at 21deg, if i need more go, i just give the boost controller a twist!
much above 21 with this cold ass air i've got rite now and she'll knock .5-.7 on the top end of 3rd.
but my cylinder air mass if off the dam chart so i cant even scale with all the boost.

A Stage 2 in stock form comes right in on the timing table around teh 0.85 range on teh y axis.. Follow that across to determine the timing, it's higher there.

sounds like what your hearing is the supercharger tick, or the infamous ecotec engine noise.
most of the time "knock" is not actually an audible knock sound. and if it is, its pretty damn serious.
I strongly doubt you are "hearing" knock, especially at an idle on the S2 tune.
Cold weather in alberta + stage 2 on 91 octane, gives knock in my experience, but only a little bit, and definately not at idle.
where in AB are you? there are some 94 husky stations popping up all over lately. maybe we can find one close to you.

btw....stock stage 2 tune has run as high as 23 degrees on my car.
with 94 octane in the car it ran that with no knock on 1 step colder NGKs.
and ive had it as high as 26 with some higher octane stuff and custom tuning
living in a freezer ftw lol
