Blower heatsoak and 2.8" pulley
I know there's like a million damn thread on the 2.8" pulley, but I think this one is a little different.
In Charleston, SC it is usually pretty damn how so the blower heatsoaks easily here. Since I put on the 2.8" is seems even worse. I expected that, but it seems to take for ever after about 3 pulls for the blower to cool down. My coolant cools quickly after pulls, but the blower just doesn't give the same exhilirating oomph. I was just wondering if anyone else noticed this with the 2.8" pulley. I think the Cobalt Addiction HE is order when I return from this deployment I'm going on.

An HE will cool the air post supercharger, but to cool the blower itself water/meth seems to be the way to go. I wonder if anyone has tried one of those CRYO2 intake coolers. Might not be as effective as water/meth at cooling, but it won't displace the air in the process. Although it might be a little restrictive. http://www.cryo2.com/products.asp?m=sp&pid=4

as long as you don't beat on the car constantly it lasts a good amount of time... also just pick up a 5 gal jug of vp racingt methanol if you make a 50/50 mix comes out to 10 gallons for 44 dollars... not a bad deal... also depends on when you set it to come on... if you don't have it kick in til almost full boost, than you won't use that much at all

Is the water/meth sprayed before or after the blower? I know it's corrosive and could eat the teflon coating on the blower blades if sprayed before.

I must have missed that memo with all my problems I was having I wasn't checking the threads as much! I guess I'll look into a kit further here in the future. Thanks for the good info.

sure.. u can even use it stock.. either way it will keep the engine in tip top shape from keeping minimum to zero KR. Heat is not good. I am installing my kit tomorrow and I can't wait. I'm gonna pickup a couple gallons of winshield washer fluid today to try it first.. they are like a dollar a gallon so u can't go wrong

Methanol will corrode aluminum. It is a weak acid.
6 CH3OH + Al2O3 → 2 Al(OCH3)3 + 3 H2O
The resulting methoxide salts are soluble in methanol, resulting in clean aluminium surface, which is readily oxidised by some dissolved oxygen. Also the methanol can act as a oxidiser:
6 CH3OH + 2 Al → 2 Al2(OCH3)3 + 3H2
I wouldn't do it.
