Break in my cobalt SS for 12 lbs.
Something really weir happened to my car today. I was peeling out from first like the whole gear was a peel out, i launched at 2000K then during 2nd it was another long peel out with my foot on the accelerator all the way in both times, then when i went to 3 it was like a fuel cut off or another peel out. Then i let go of the accelerator and it when i went to fourth it worked fine. After that my car was sounding more like stleath and my boost gauge finally hit 12lbs!
What do you guys think that happened ! did i mess up my car or was that good break in! I now have 850 miles.

Nothing you did helped break your motor in, it probably just helped it get closer to breaking. Breaking it is keeping your motor under a set rpm for a certain amount of miles. Not launching it at 2k and trashing it.

sounds weird. has it done anything similar since, or just that one time?
mine has 1200mi now and has died on me twice, both times took about 4 or 5 times of trying it before it finally would fire....very weird. i didn't push gas cuz of fuel injection, but i had the urge to pump the gas like in my old carbed cars...lol...hadn't experienced anything like this in an injected car before now. when i get time, hopefully next week, i'm gonna take it in and ask what's going on as well as have door seal fixed and rickety fan sound looked at.

And a good number of people suggest and support (with good evidence to back it up) that all of the break in is done within the first 100 Miles. The whole 2,000 , 5,000 mile break in rule is out dated. Now the bores from the factory are a lot more precision and don't have the rough edges that motors once did. Evidence goes to show, the best break in is usualy one where you vary through the WHOLE ENTIRE RPM band.

Tha manual states 5oo miles of varying RPM and Speed.
After that, run like hell!!
Also, I noticed after I went to the track the first time and ran the **** out of her,
she got louder and seems to have a little more power.
No power shifting but hit the rev limiter a few times.
Best so far - 15.0@98.9 MPH.
Launching the car continues to be a problem.

If you dont wind the car out at least a bunch of times you will never get full potential out of the motor, not saying to beat the living heck out of it but definitely need to show it a good time a good number of times..

Is the increase in performance just due to computer adjustments for running at the higher RPMs? A mechanic told me back when I was auto-x'n an MR2 that the computer does this; so after running it at higher RPM for a given amount of time (whatever it is for the car at hand) it makes adjustments for performance, and after running lower RPM it does the opposite.
I'm no expert and don't really get it as it seems the comp 'should' be able to adjust timing/mixture/etc on the fly to the given RPM you're running so really I don't see how that would be an issue. HOWEVER, he was a mechanic and I'm not, and what you all keep talking about with regards to running it hard then it performing better kinda reminded me of what that mechanic told me, so thought I'd throw it out there.
