CAI=CEL 172 Running Rich? HELP?!?

Got the intake off of ebay, put it on, No instructions, went on pretty good, had to mod a little, cuz the bracket didn't line up with the bolt from the original intake, anyways, got it on, drove it...noticed it kind of surges and doesn't feel as "smooth..." maybe, drove to town, picked up fiance'..no CEL yet.....pull in/to gas station CEL comes on... scanned today, code 172 System running Rich...(Bank 1).... what does this mean...blablab? filter is generic...no name...code cleared...hasn't come back on yet...that was.....7 hours ago with like....45 mins of driving...gettting on it a little...etc... still feels choppy and not as smooth as before...where exactly is the MAF to clean...i'm assuming right their at the elbow of the supercharger....how do i tune this biatch...get a lap top...what programs do i use...etc..?
oh...to put the original intake on and clear the code out again if i have to...does unplugging the battery and putting the factory intake on then starting it solve this..choppy feel etc or running rich.
before you mouth, this isnt' my car, it's my fiance's so go easy killers
hoping to get pics from the video of installing that CAI on...posted on here later...i'll point out the mods i had to make.
pps..this is first mod to car also...06 SS/SC...26,000 miles

What brand is it? If its smaller diameter than the stock intake piping, it will throw a p0172 code. You may also have a leak at a coupler or around the MAF. Make sure the MAF is sealed into the pipe tight.

Edit: from the sounds of the stuttering I would sway towards a leak in the piping or MAF.
