Can The SS S/C Have a Hitch?
#27
My last camaro came with one but it was pretty well hidden with the RS body kit. However i would advise against putting a hitch on a cobalt, but you won't be the first to do so.
My recommendation, buy a Colorado. I bought one for work and towing crap like that. It was 14K brand new. Even with the little 2.8L engine and a 5speed you can still pull at least 3000 lbs. Plenty enough for a jetski and trailer.
Not to mention 30mpg, runs best on regular, and has like a 16 gallon tank.

^^^ LMAO i forgot about that. sneaky im not claiming to have a degree in towing, but use some damn common sense. YES, you can tow with a FWD car, YES the ss has enough power to tow some things, but think about what you are freaking saying. how many vehicles advertised and obviously made to tow things are FWD or use 4 cylinders? NONE. do you think you have just unraveled this amazing secret no other human being has ever been able to find? rwd (or even better AWD), very torquey (sp?) vehicles are best for towing, period. with the extra weight put ON TOP OF the drive wheels, the vehicle will be much more driveable. then again i could be wrong and you could be towing something hitched to the front of your car in reverse perfectly fine.

I dont want to have to pay to dock it. I mean i most likely will be able to keep it at my girls uncles house at the bay. but i'd have to bring it back for the winter i just needed to know if it was possible to tow if i had to get it fixed or bring it back here for the winter.

sorry to bring that thread back, i went to the dealer yesterday to find out if i was able to put a hitch on my ss/sc and yes it can be done, GM priced my one after market one for 169.99$ CND + around 60 $ of installation. its not voiding any warranty, for the towing part, my girlfriend bought me a GT mountain bike and a bike rack for my birthday, guess what, i need a hitch, for the one who think its stupid and who says "you should buy a truck" well, who is the fucktart who buy a truck to tow a bike. well i'll get the hitch installed and i will post some picture.

any new info on this? I want to pull a tiny flat 4x6 trailer with a go kart on it. all in all it will probably be lighter than my stereo was when it was in the car. i need to know where to get wiring, i found plenty of hitches. I have a 06 ss/sc btw, and can't be told not to tow. I'll do it anyway

I thought about doing this aswell for the track. I just want to tow a tiny trailer big enough to fit a set of race wheels and tires and some tools. Thats not much weight at all, and I see vettes do it all the time. When the trailer is not on the car you can't even tell the hitch is on the car if you pull the ball assembly out.

I remember seeing a GM test Cobalt SS/SC and they had a hitch on it to pull the emissions equipment behind it. THey had to cut a nice chunk out of the rear fascia for it. I'm not sure if the hitch was custom made by GM or bought from a seperate manufacturer though.
