Car will not start, help!
Hey guys, so I feel like a dummy. I performed the following to today to attempt to perform the air box mod and replace my fuel filter, only to find that my car doesn't start now.
1. I took the air box off and disconnect the sensor on it (I think the MAF, right?)
2. Performed the mod, but the tubing back. (I forgot to hook the MAF back up)
3. Disconnected the relay switch for fuel pump.
4. Disconnected my Negative batt. terminal for 10 minutes, then reconnected.
5. attempted to start car to relieve pressure in fuel system, didn't start.
6. Remember that I didn't connect my MAF, and connected it.
7. Attempted to start, did not start.
What's the deal, any advice for this ameatur?
Thanks

i had that happen to me way back when i did a fuel filter. pulled the relay, started the car till fuel pressure was 0, changed the filter, put the relay in and it wouldnt start. i cant remember what it was but i think you can put the relay in backwards and it will cause the fuel pump not t come on.
does the pump prime when you turn the key on?

I did put the relay back in, haha. I did not put it in backwards, so that possibility is eliminated. However, I did not prime it. How do I do this? Is it as simple as pumping the gas pedal or something more? Thanks so much for responding guys, can't wait to find the answer!

hey bro your issue sounds like fuel. If your maf was bad or disconnected or somthing else like that itll start but die soon after. make sure you didnt blow a fuse and relays are al good.. make sure your pump is priming itself. Oh yeah there is a loiusville thread btw if you have question you can call me im the local guy!! hahahaha good name i think.. my cell is 270-505-3212

Still did not start
Okay, so here's what I did:
- Turned key to on position for 15 seconds
- Turned key to off position for 5 seconds
- Repeat 2x (for a total of 3)
Then, I attempted to start the car, it actually combusted a little, but then died.
I repeated this entire proces twice more. Any thoughts, it's probably something really simple, but I can't get it!

ok if it combusts then there is fuel. Somewhat, go to the schrader valver and turn the car to the on position if there is fuel pressure the schrader valve will spit fuel out... If no fuel you know the fuel pump is not kicking on. Another thing to check is the ip signal fuse fuel pump fuse and other relas and fuses. If you took the maf out it can be in backwards make sure the arrow points straight up!

Okay, I'll go and do those now. I didn't take the MAF out of the tubing for the intake, I simply disconnected it's dongle so that I could perform the airbox mod. Where is the schrader valver on the cobalt?

check you inj fuse in the under hood fuse box, also try starting it with the gas all the way to the floor, it'll make the car go into clear flood mode and may clear fuel out if for some reason it's flooded. try both

Mine does this after filling up with fuel.. Not sure of what model you have but on my 08 T/C the Fuel Canister Purge Valve is junked. To temporarily fix this try unplugging that sensor. It won't hurt anything just throws the check engine light. Not sure if this is your issue but def has the same effects of it not starting. I could however get mine to start if I held the pedal to the floor and just kept cranking it.

make sure you didnt put your fuel pump relay fuse in backwards. i know it looks like its upside down when its in compared to identical fuses on the other side of the fuse box. prime it 2-3times ( just turn the key. should hear the pump pressurizing) if you cant do that its a sometype of electrical problem. but i think you have the fuse i nbackwards or in a empty slot. i did the same thing when i changed my fuel filter 3weeks ago. there should be a fuel pump how-to with pics of the fuses n such
