ok my .02 on the SLP i was very set on getting that exhaust to but every review i read every1 said it was to damn loud and i dont wanna be annoyed on long drives with a super lous exhaust so i went with the megan and i think it sounds really good and every1 who has heard has agreed i have not heard one person call it rice even 2 of my friend who are diehard v8 diesel guys not 4 cyl lovers have said it sounds really good. i LOVE my megan exhaust. but i did notice u drive the ss/sc i heard mixed reviews on the megan exhaust on the ss/sc i heard it sounds raspy on the 2.0 motor.

I think the Megan tip looks ricer compared to the other ones, but sounds good. I may just go the mandrel bent 2.5" route with the magnaflow and save some coin. I need to buy a helmet for track days, and the money set aside for that will be paying for this.

Corsa is a great sounding exhaust as well. A friend of mine has it, under idle it sounds about the same as Magnaflow but it is louder at WOT.

Bump, can someone that has seen/heard this kit please comment on it... I was wondering if it was *loud* because it does not have a resonator... Pros/Cons of not having a resonator?

Do you have a cat converter? If so a resonator wont REALLY be needed..

That is the start of EVERY aftermarket exhaust... some just use different type of steel and add resonators..

You can have one added on at a muffler shop for like 55 bucks... and if you dont have a cat converter it will be worth it... if you do, it will quiet her down more.. but will still sound nice (a resonator takes the riceness out of the tone)..

what i would do is order that one (im getting the 3" soon myself), take it to a muffler shop (have them weld the joints, dont use those clamps, alot of leaks...) and have them put a resonator in..

I think the Megan sounds like ricer garbage...

My setup thus far... Clear Image 4-1 Header, 3" DP w/ High Flow Cat, 3" to 2.5" adapter to stock catback...

Soo I was going to grab that Magnaflow system in either 2.5" or 3".. But I was worried about it being too loud without a resonator...

But this brings me back to my biggest question of will a 3" exhaust help my mods, and not hurt them... I have most every bolt on... (see sig & VB garage)

You're powertrain/exhaust is covered till 100k. I made the mistake of replacing the cat on my own, and now it's causing me problems. No bueno.

Catalyst is only covered to 80k on most vehicles

IMO unless your above 300whp, i think 3" is overkill.

A well tuned 2.7" with all supporting mods can put you decently close to 300... If you run a 50 shot or something, that should def put you over the mark... Soo 3" might not be too bad...

Anyone know if an exhaust like that with no resonator is significantly louder? I hate rice, rasp, and overly loud...

I think your at the point where you could get the 3" and be fine....

just get the resonator welded on! its cheap!

exhaust without a resonator will be fine if you have a cat converter... if you dont... it will be very raspy...

thats why i suggest getting one welded in... if you go to a muffler shop its about 65 for the resonator AND the welding....

multiple locals with balts had it and got pulled over with tickes

if ur looking for a cat back thats really nice

corsa sport

if u want to do the header DP and cat back go with whatever after market u think u will like and a hahn cat back. buddy got it. no rasp and hardly any drone

but corsa sport if u want a cat back only

hahn is basically that mandrel systems piping, just aluminized, and has some resonators inside of it...

dont spend the extra 250 bucks....

Yea I'm def looking for function over form here... I refuse to buy an expensive ass catback for this car, totally not worth it... And I don't want loud or ricey... I know it's a hard job to fill all these needs, hence why I'm still looking...

Well I just finished installing my Cat-back. I ended up with the generic mandrel bent system with the Magnaflow muffler. I was pretty impressed with the system overall, except it took a bit of finagling to get it right. It ended up pretty good, the tip is anti ricer and is no bigger than stock, but not chrome But it is LOUD. The idle is phenomenal, but when you get on it it is fricken loud. I'm not sure, but I think it may be as loud as the Z28 under throttle. Badass. So long story short:

No Resonator = Loud
