PCV "valve" is now an orifice in the center of the intake manifold.
On the 2.2s the orifice is part of the intake and requires a gasket.
On the 2.4 it is a removable plate with gasket as part of the plate.
I haven't seen the 2.0 setup yet.

Im thinking this is the pcv valve setup on my 07 SS/SC where the green arrows point. Even though I have a catch can on the other hose I dont think its right as its not collecting any oil at all which doesnt surprise me as that hose is just a fresh air hose back and forth between valve cover and intake. I think the correct hose to plumb into on the 07 SC model with a catch can is the one with green arrows as I suspect this is the pcv vsystem fitting/hose setup.

of a gxp? nope. it's a very similar set up to the ls1's
no valley pan evac system, just a pcv in the center of the intake manifold comming off the rear valve cover/head
and a breather comming off the front valve cover/head.

sscobaltscZ06, that vac line you are pointing to is not PCV. that is your brake booster vac line. you have the oil/air seperator on the right place. cobalts dont have a "valve" for the positive crank ventilation like the v6's and v8's have.

O, I see. So instead of having the fresh air tube off the intake tubes you just have a filter (like many do instead) and you are installing the catch in between the pcv valve and vavle cover. I can see how oil can be getting through there since it's coming right off the vavle cover.

The hose connects to an opening in the VC -- it is not the PCV valve. The Cobalt does not have a PCV valve like older cars (not one easily removed at least). The "PCV" is a calibrated orifice in the intake manifold. Air is "sucked" in at this orifice at idle and low speeds via the hose at the VC/intake but the flow reverses at higher RPM/WOT and most of the crankcase gases go into the intake. That's when the potential for "sucking" oil occurs.
2.2L engines have a drilled hole in the center of the intake manifold with a removable gasket, while the SS/NA 2.4L has a removable drilled plate and gasket assembly. I'm not sure what the 2.0L SS/SC has as I haven't pulled one off and the factory service manual doesn't show it clearly.

Sorry for the confusion, I was referring to his GXP.

Hope you don't think I was directing that at you. Just using it to clarify the PCV system. A lot of people aren't aware of the PCV system in our engines.

Ah...Ok, I havnt had time to go takea look at it, but thanks for clearing it up. I heard the SC's didnt have a pcv system thats why I was checking so im glad thats cleared up.

Just not used to a 4 cyl engine setup at all copared to V8 GM's. Even the 04 LS6 Z06's dont have a pcv valve system either as my 03 LS6 does and catch can install differences and as pointed out some LS1's also. Can get pretty confusing different years/models.

Well...after 850 miles of in town and freeway medium and hard driving there is absolutley no oil at all in the catch can. Id say probably 200 miles are very hard high rpm in high boost also. So with these results of no oil at all id say the HD catch can doesnt work worth a crap which I figured on that before I even tried it as its not a oil seperator at all OR I have absolutley no blow by at all with this engine at all under boost conditions.

Well it's cool either way sscobaltscZ06. I have one too and I don't see oil yet. It can't hurt and it's cheap.
Maybe we will end up with some oil after a few thousand miles. I know when I put mine on there was oil in the lines. You too right?

That's good news actually! Your catch-can is there just-in-case.

I didnt notice any in the lines but when I put the CAI on I noticed some oil laying on the bottom edge of the TB. I dontthink it was oil sucked through the intake hose though as it shouldnt puddle there rather be sucked right in the TB,

The HD setup I used 3/8 fittings, but the hose is not 3/8 by a long shot as I thought so I need to change the fittings to at least 7/16 or larger and that will help it. Also putting some wire mesh in the top of the seperator will help also as thats how alot of catch can are setup to further promote good seperation.
