Cause of SS/SC Death Determined: Aeromotive Fuel Pump
This explains a lot, (cliff notes at bottom):
For nearly 5 months and through way too much $$, I fought to keep my SS/SC running to no avail... OEM pump went out in December last year. After running full E85 for 3 years I figured it gave up. I had a credit with ZZP and from my research at the time, the aeromotive stealth fuel pump fit my needs. Who would have thought the next 5 months of struggling and chasing gremlins, being stranded, and lots of $$ in diagnostics could have been prevented had I chosen a different pump. At the time of purchase, the page at ZZP did NOT have a disclaimer or in any way state it was not intended for the average car, aka daily driver. Also, the local performance shop had tested the pump after the initial loss of fuel pressure and found it to be working, so we moved on to wiring, fuseblock, PCM, etc. Never found the source....because the source was the new pump. Should have just replaced it with another OEM
For those that know me/my car, at least I know what was up now... Oh well, Mazdaspeed3 FTMFW!
EDIT: Parted the ss/sc out to nearly every last nut/bolt. Bought my '10 MS3 in May.
TL;DR
OEM fuel pump went out
Replaced with Aeromotive Stealth pump, no warning was on ZZP's site
Loss of fuel pressure continued randomly
$$$$ down drain, could have been fixed with a different pump
I am in no way stating this is ZZP's fault, had they known, so would I when I initially purchased

I parted that thing out to the bare frame in May through July. I still have the frame, doors, all glass (with 20% tint! ), M62, and intake manifold. Just sitting collecting dust.

I wish I could have got your TVS setup and gauge cluster and maybe a WickedSS tuned sticker!! Lol I had very mixed feelings when you told me that the pump you got was the very same... I was bummed but yet I almost laughed just cause its always the last thing anyone thinks of that causes the biggest problems!! I felt bi-polar about the whole convo last night..

Uh, no. Not going to happen.
I'm always down for drinks. You need to go to Chappy's with me. It's the restaurant on the corner of my block. AMAZING food and drink.
You know I'm always up for food

True.. I use the failing of stock as an excuse to get performance parts! That's why now I have 2.7 w/60's, phenolic spacer, dual pass plate, cx racing fmhe, strut bar, aeroforce interceptor, wb gauge, stage 2 belt and oversized tensioner, and WickedSS hptuned (which you'd never know without the tuner decal) lmao.. I can't wait for something else to go out!! That way I have a story to tell the wife as of why I need to buy something!!

Yes I did. I'm referring to the person that actually tunes your car. Choose him wisely.... Because here lately, we've been learning what happens when you don't
