COBALT SS/SC FOR 12s?

cobalt ss/sc, what does it need for 12s

some say stage 3 or 4

ive seen

2.8"
60lbs
custom tune
trans mount
shorty header

run 13.4@106mph on youtube.com

imagine adding

S3 h/e
LS4 tb
2.7"
ported inlet and outlet
HPtuners

im sure with some good tires and "without" a cam or nos
you coul get into the 12s easy trpping close to or over 110mph

any thoughts broskys? all comments welcome!

I was able to reach 13.4@104.1 on just a dp,intake,2.9,42's and a BYT Tune.

Never got to run it after all the other mods but i am sure low low 13 if not a 12.9 could have been reached if i ever had a run where it was not dropping timing.

Traction. doesnt matter how much hp you have if you cant put it to the ground. I've seen 12.8s with as little as 260whp. just had crazy traction.

I have over 300whp and cant hit 12s because I blow off the tires through 2nd gear, or get clutch slip. 13.7 @ 109mph.

slicks or good DR, axles, stronger clutch, rotated mounts, drag bags in the rear springs = 1.80 60' all day.

Secondly, Cooling mods. all the boost in the world isnt gonna help you if your IAT2 is so high the car pulls timing. Splitting hairs over a tenth of an inch in pulley sizes is pointless.

Cooling and traction mods should remain priority over power-adders, especially cooling.

A large H/E with meth injection is the best setup for the money, from what i've seen.
Don't forget the rotated mounts, suspension and tire, and you should have a solid drag build.

From there, the easy stuff comes in. A full exhaust with an intake, 48's and a 2.8 with a tune? You could be coming close to 12's with that.

So true.

I'd be iffy about the axles though. I've heard of sooo many people cracking trannies once they upgrade the axles. Set your break point low.

I'll have 60s, 2.8, trans mount, GMPP clutch, hp tuned myself, airbox, full 3-2.5" exhaust. Hoping to hit a mid 13's.

Vendors have tested the ls4 tb and have seen no gains from it as far as making hp. It will only make your throttle touchy cuz it flows the same amount of air quicker due to its larger diameter

Normally its wheel hop that breaks trannys and axles. Slicks don't wheel hop (unless you struggle).

or side-stepping the clutch with slicks.
the whole point of slicks is being able to launch like a bat out of hell w/o losing traction.
Any shock to the driveline can snap an axle. whether its wheel hop or side-stepping the clutch.

Watch out with that duel pass end plate it might stab you. You should really replace it with a dual pass endplate as soon as you can.

Well, I wish I could tell you what I run but here is my setup:
2.8"
Bad-mab shorty
Hahn 3" C.DP
ZZP 3" exhaust
ZZP 3" intake
Dual pass
Opt B
OTTP H/E
Devils Own S2 Progressive meth kit with a 5GPH nozzle
Spec 3+ clutch
TWM SS with shifter bushings.

My valvetrain is ticking so I am saving up for Supertech 78# springs and while the head is off I am going to have it ported. I have HP tuners and plan on then getting it tuned. Not sure if I will get an LS4 throttle body or not. I hope to have around 330whp or so.

With 24.5x8.5x15" slicks and a tune with around 19-22* of timing running around 11.7-9AFR I hope to hit mid 12's. As long as my stock axles don't break.

There is a person on here with just E85 that did mid 12's. Alleycat I believe is their username.

I have a good set of street tires and I snapped mine like nothing the car moved like 6 feet. With slicks u will for sure if ur tune is good. If I were u get the zzp stage 1 axles and u should be fine.

My car also only have like 39000 miles on it. And it's a 07 ss sc. I will tell u wat the ls4 didn't seem to do much up top but made a huge improvement down low. It puts u in ur seat a lot harder down low.

replace your lash adjusters or your chain tensioner and you wont make 330 whp on a m62
