Cooling mods required to pulley down to a 2.9

I was wondering if getting the ZZP S3 HE would be enough to slap a 2.9 on my SS/SC, would I be able to just put a 2.9 on my car or would I have to buy other things, mods in sig

I'd probably throw an exhaust on at the same time to free up some restriction

I dont have any cooling mods,
and I'm running a 2.85" and it does alright.
But I dont do alot of raceing.
I think the ZZP HE would be enough. Was thinking of throwing one on myself
this spring when the weather starts heating up.

dual pass is nothing without a h/e!! dual pass just keeps it cooler for a longer period of time, but if you have nothing to get it cooler (h/e) trying too keep it cooler longer is pointless.....

You wont have any problems except a heatsoaked motor all the time

I never noticed cooler temps when i installed my heat exchanger. The temps just came up slower and recovered much quicker after a pull.

if your refering to the temps on ur dash, those arent the temps that will lower any cause that is ur engine coolant not the coolant for your sc system, they are two seperate systems....., but yes the h/e will recover tems more quickly and keep it cooler than just the stock one alone

dual pass will allow you to do more conscuative pulls w/out heatsoaking as fast....(keeping the car cooler longer)

Sweetness so just to double check all I need to buy is this

https://www.zzperformance.com/cobalt...=895&catid=188

And this

https://www.zzperformance.com/cobalt...=446&catid=188
and set that to 2.9

and I could install it on a GMSII engine? or perhaps is there a site where I can just buy the pulley instead of that system thing

yea the s3 h/e is great!! fits perfect too
if ur ordering a 2.9, u might as well just get the 2.8 cause its as low as u can go with out using meth, little more power
ur enging isnt stage two......just he sc part of it is!
all you need to do since u just need a pully and a h/e is buy the h/e frpm zzp and buy th pully by its self.. Cobalt & Ion ---> ZZ Performance
you will also need a hub for the pully!!

He has a stg 2 already but only 42 lb injectors on a 2.9 will max them out at WOT. He doesnt want a 2.8 till he gets larger injectors and tuning!!!!!!!!!!

He doesnt need a hub for the pulley just get the right pulley that fits on the stg 2 hub!!!!! (These are the ones you want, wont require puller or anything extra)

Personally if I was you I would go with a dual pass and option b. Currently I am running an OTTP HE on a 2.9 and I still see my intake temps climb way to fast. After 2 dyno pulls I saw IAT2's in the 160's so I have decided to give OTTP's Griffin HE a chance along with option b.

Dual Pass, Option B (Extra tank), and an upgraded H/E are all reccommended... especially if you're in a rather hot climate.

griffin HE only aftermarket one worth a damn. you wont see much cooler temps from a front mount as opposed to the stocker.

you do realize that there is a HE stock on these cars. sure its not in the best location but it is still pretty efficient.

Not sure why you say that???? I ran the 2.9 zzp pulley and currently run a 2.8 zzp pulley for the GM stg2 hub and it works just great. I can swap pulleys in a couple minutes.

dont get an option B. Flow through tanks with ice wells are far better.

If you can afford it, get a griffin unit! Those are by far the best h/e's for the ss/sc and you would have no need to run another in-line front mount
