Corvette killer, Cobalt SS\SC UPDATE
As many of you know I am undertaking a major build on my engine. Today after working out a deal with JBP, I have upped the anti a bit for the build to ensure that this is one strong and capable LSJ capable of pushing 550hp with the addition of turbo\nitrious somewhere down the line. The following is a list of the work JBP will start once I ship my engine to them in 2.5 weeks. On top of this list will be the clutch, flywheel, custom drive shafts and drag radials needed to bear this kind of power. I should likely plan for a new tranny after I recover from the wife's beating that I am going to receive when she finds out what I said yes to

I didn't see stronger axles. Make sure you have someone making stronger axles for you. Fast06SS broke one and he was only running high 12's. Good luck on your build, and I want to see dyno numbers and track times when your finished. You are getting HP Tuners, right?

Half the list was stock components that I guess your going to replace. Most of it is a waste. You should just make sure you have forged internals, ported head, larger blower or turbo, and typical boltons and tranny work.
Maybe you can cut that list down to aftermarket performance parts.

Sounds good. Hope it works out for you.
As for your 550 hp prediction? Sure the engine may be able to handle it. I just don't think your going to get it with the stock blower. It will be interesting to see when it is finished though.

The list posted is a great bunch of parts who will allow you to safely supporting big power, but will not make power by themself (exept for the cams, stage head ...).
So tell us which turbo / twincharge setup you plan to run; you'll need a bunch of CFM and PSI to achieve 500 HP on a 2.0 liter engine !
Also, how about the intake, TB, header, cat, catback ???

As I have stated this build is preparing for the future. I see no reason to do a job twice. This build will allow what ever is released for the LSJ in the way of a twin charging system. Because that is not likely to happen before the build is done I am over building at this time. At the same time my engine would be capable of handling a 150 shot of nitrous until the twin charging is available. Now, I am not saying that I am going to run a 150 shot just that I could if I wanted to. I like the idea of getting this build done so I can enjoy and adjust to the wild power I will have. Then I can see what is available and build up some reserve cash to fund both the next step as well as the price of gas

If it were me, I'd go with a 2.5" pulley untill a turbo/twincharge kit comes out.

Yes every single penney spent on your GM Stage 2 will probably be blown soon (GM calibration, GM hub and 42 lb/hr injectors).

not only do i love the fact that you're doing this, but i love the approach you're taking to building an engine. I see too many people today just slap big turbos or blowers on and then wonder why they blow their motors up. This is basically the approach i plan to take (on a much smaller scale) for my "little base model that could" project. That when when a nice turbo kit does come out i can slap it on and know my motor's ready for it.

We would agree then that somethings are not worth gambling on and several grand on an engine is one of them. I will post on the progress and results as they happen. Good luck with building yours when the parts are released
