cosmo short throw in my 2.0
cosmo short throw for the 2.2/2.4 http://http://www.cosmoracing.com/pr...d=228&pid=1459 i bought mine off ebay for 31 bucks shipped
you can see how i had to trim alittle on the right side so it would fit through the hole. before i took the roll pin out and taking off the lock out. makes it easy to adjust the cables with the boot not in the way.
here are the cables they work just like before but the gray one is on its side. also you have to cut the bottem of the shifter box as you can see under the cables.
now here the little white thing is what it came with. that will not fit in the selector hole, so take a hack saw and cut the plastic one off the stock shifter at the base
one other thing the ball in the middle of the shifter is bigger then the stock one, so when you you go to put it in the plastic holder you really got to work at it and use some muscle to get it to go in to bolt the top of the shifter back down.

i have it on for about 2 days now and it works great. it will hold up. you have to cut the bottem when you do a normal short throw, everything is stable and sound on it.

I'm just a little confused...I thought cosmo only made the short shifters. I.E. the shifter shaft is just shorter than normal. Or is this actually a short throw where it shortens the length of travel between gears?

Honestly i dont think our throw is long to begin with. But thats just me. I guess it could stand to be shorter.
The hurst shifter pretty much sucks. I dont like how notchy it is compared to stock. Driven a cobalt with one. Prefer the stocker. However, its pretty inherent i guess to have a slightly notchy shifter when you convery to a STS...
Just curious, since this wasnt made for our application, how it would last over time, and if any problems would develop w/ maybe dragging it or autoXing it...

there is a big diff. in the throw now VS. stock and i like it. i didn't like stock shifter because you always hit the knee of the pass. when going to 5th. there should be now probs of it lasting for a long time i didn't really change alot of stuff the major thing was the gray clip and how tight the ball was in the socket

You don't need it if you don't mind hunting for 5th. The reasons for the reverse lockout are A. It stops the shifter from going too far right and missing 5th by a mile and B. To keep idiots from trying to shift into 6th. Second reason there also being why reverse is so far to the right. I disabled the reverse lockout on mine for about 3 days before it pissed me off so bad I put it back.
