What are the effects of this on our coil packs? Shortend lifespan? I know by increasing the dwell your gaining a hotter longer spark= better throttle response, but your coil pack life is decreasing correct?

Rob, did you dyno with this to see if there was any torque gains?

From what we do at work here, we usually leave the lower rpms alone to save coil life and up the upper rpms for added spark, but that's on high compression race engines. Haven't really seen a huge gain in small FI engines that benifit or is worth the loss of replacing coil packs every 30,000 miles.

So was there any long term effects on changing the spark dwell?
