driving the ss/sc cold
anyone just start there car and drive? Not giving it a chance to warm up. I ask because I normally wait at least 3 mins for my car to warm up, but just a little bit ago I had to move my car really quick, and going into first gear it usually shakes violently when I have to do quick moves like that.
Also looking at my wideband the afr goes to 10.0 then after maybe 20 seconds moves it's way up slowly to stoich, I think this just may be a warm up for the car?
anyone else have this issue?

I usually let the rpm's rest around 1k before I take off... takes about 15-20 secs... Then i'm off.. Other than that, when I drive without letting it warm up, it seems to ride a little rougher for the first mile or so then it's fine.
Modern cars don't need to warm up as long as older cars did. We can take off and let the car warm up as we go along.. Jus hopefully you don't get on it immediately after you start it up...

this is basically how mine is! I usually let out the clutch slower when this happens. I'm just wondering if the ss/sc runs rich normally for the first minute on startup.

yeah mine is always jerky too at first. Sometimes I will be in 2nd and even 3rd gear at about 3500rpm and give it gas and the car will bounce a few times then smooth out. Does that happen to any of you?

yeah, sometimes my friends just look at me and im like.. It seriously isnt my fault lol. I cleaned my throttle body earlier in the summer and seemed to help alot. Maybe It is time for another cleaning..? It also fixed the idle bounce I was having when id come to a stop.

yep, When I would stop at a redlight my car would bounce and almost stall especially when the ac was on... there is a thread about it on here ill find it.. but yeah cleaned it and completely fixed the bounce. But yeah the car still runs like ass when I dont let it warm up lol

Since I'm usually out the door right when I need to leave, I rarely do. The only exception is winter while I'm de-icing the windows.
The only thing I notice when the Cobalt is cold is that the clutch likes to slip for about 2 seconds if I'm not getting on the throttle heavy for that initial first to second shift. If I apply a moderate amount of throttle and shift at 3K, then it won't do it.

I start my car and wait a min of a couple mins before I move it. Occasionally it likes to buck once it goes into 2nd, and slight increase in throttle makes it worse...so I get pissed off and clutch back in and rev it out to like 4k and slowly release the clutch again.

My car cold also is bucky and the shifting almost fels notchy.
Once it warms up it smooths out to perfect though. Takes a k or 2.
I try to warm it up if I can, mostly becase it's getting cold here .

I never drive it when coolant temp is below 100°F, usually I'll let it warm up completely. I smoke, I don't smoke in my car, though, so having a cigarette before I start driving kills about 5 minutes.
Cars with a lot of miles/older cars, should be given time to warm up before driven, especially in the winter. You guys who just get in and go, I'm not sure how many miles you have, but I'm at 66,xxx and I'd rather let it warm up for 5 minutes then stress a cold motor by putting load on it.

I think it's just the way these cars are tuned. My car does that also....if you stomp on it when it's still cold it will fall on its face. Once the car goes into closed loop it's fine.
