Dyno'd today

So I called WhiteSSbalt to see what he was doin and he was getting some tires put on at PTuning, so I decided I'd meet him down there. Well on the way down I thought "hey, I have 75 dollars to spend, why not dyno my car" So I did just that.

Only performance mods I have are Injen CAI, and full vibrant exhaust. Well with all that I put down 218 WHP, and 190 WTQ on a DynoDynamic Dyno. I'm just happy I finally got some numbers out of my car before my pulley swap.

they said something like they don't do something like adjust corrections of something like that. So that's really what my car puts down.. Unlike some of them that do adjust corrections? and woulda told me I had like 240.. I think that's the jist of what he was telling me.

sounds about right...the dynodynamics is the "heartbreaker" of dynos IIRC

Its all relative though. If youre interested in seeing the difference in performance from one mod to the next, it shouldnt matter whether it reads low or high as long as its calibrated the same each time you use it.

What did he mean by adjust corrections? I've never had that done at any dyno I've gone to. Usually thats only when you're getting a new tune.

take it to a diff dyno (like a mustang) then compare numbers

pretty much. I was just explaining to them why it seemed so low. I don't really care what the numbers are right now, as to the fact that I just wanna see what the 2.6 pulley and meth kit and cobra h/e is exactly going to give me.

why take it to a different dyno.. as long as I use the same one each time I'll get the result I'm looking for right??

I'm not positive what he meant there, he didn't really go in to deeply with it. He just mentioned that other numbers "fix" numbers to make it seem higher

I only said that to show differences in dyno numbers...like the guy said about the corrections or w/e, you dyno'ed 218/190 there, but you may have dyno'ed 240/215 or so somewhere else...while you had the same mods, and at the same time of year...so that most of the variables were the same.

Ah forget it...nevermind.

But if I understood him wrong why is this dyno show such low numbers?? It's my first time every on a dyno, so i'm not 100% sure about them. Why can I dyno 218 here but 240 somewhere else.

Let me word it differently.. What's the difference b/w a mustang dyno and a dynodynamics dyno. That's what I mean by getting 218 here and 240 there.

All the brands of dynos from my understanding use different ways of reading your hp and tq. (different technology) Therefore some ways give higher numbers and some give lower numbers. Its all in which dyno you use. Dynodynamics usually gives the lowest numbers and dynojet usually gives the highest numbers.

As long as a dyno is consistant thats what matters . Like the OP said he just wants to see the gains when he changes setups, exactly what a dyno is for , not a ego booster. This isnt directed at anyone inpaticular but the general consensus here is if it reads lower than what other have put down in the past ,then its time to look for a different dyno . Really , i wouldn't give a **** if i put down 190 whp , as long as it shows accurate gains from mods that are install in the future, thats what counts.

The only people who can even start to compare numbers are the ones who have dynoed together on the same machine , with the same configuration and conditions .

if you want to feel "good" about fictious number go on a liar jet to get better numbers for those pissing and whining about the numbers he put down. That will most indefinitly boost your ego for sure.

Just my 2 cents worth....all dyno number are estimated really so there can never be a dyno that has the true number becuase there is no way of finding out what the true number actually is...

dynamic's read low as hell. i dyno'd with my mods only like 225 on one.

well what were the number's stock.

I'm not to worried about higher numbers, what my car puts down is what my car puts down. As long as I'm gaining from my mod's, that's all I can ask. I just wanna see what my number's will do from exhaust to smaller pulley and meth. I was just trying to understand the different dyno's. So I appreciate the info.
