Easiest way to 300 crank hp.........

I am curious as to how close I would be with these mods:

zzp s2 heat exchanger
zzp custom tune for 42lb injectors, 2.9 pulley, and 93 octane
injen intake
ca v2 header

solid mounts (i know no hp, but mentioned anyway)

Before I installed the H62, and 74mm pulley my car was making 291bhp (according to my interceptor). My mods were GM Stage 3, 2.99 pulley, 42# injectors, AEM Intake, GMPP Manifold, Corsa 2.5" Catback. You should be around 300bhp with the mods you listed.

On that setup I dynoed 256 whp.

He is asking about BHP not WHP.

interceptors are not accurate on reading horsepower. OP if you go down to a 2.8 pulley you should see your goal no problem.

Never said they were, but they are pretty damn close considering I dynoed 256 whp & the interceptor read 291 bhp. Comparing my dyno and bhp reading it's about a 12% driveline loss which is about what a front wheel drive car will loose.

You do not need a 2.8 pulley to reach 300 bhp.

He's probably running around 270 to the crank. Meth, 80s and E85 with a skilled tuner may get you close.

He is more like 250ish whp which is more than 270bhp. GM Stage 2 equals to about 270bhp.

You do not need meth, 80s and E85 to reach 300bhp. 300whp yes, but not 300bhp.

May want to think about a set of injectors larger than the 42lb/hr.

I really think a lot of you are not understanding the OP's original post. He is asking what it takes to get to 300 BHP not 300 WHP. It's not hard to get to 300 BHP on these cars. Most of the SS/SC's on this site are at or near that. Trying to get 300 WHP is when things get complicated, and you need mods like larger injectors, full exhaust, cooling, smaller pulley, etc.

No I understood. Just saying, if he's buying new injectors, a larger set would be safer with the 2.9 pulley he mentioned as well as give him room to use a smaller pulley later when the 2.9 gets boring.

Yep, I want that to start with. If I wanna change to another pulley a good friend is getting hptuners and has offered to help with that tune wise.....

I would be happy with 250 ish at the wheels.....its my dd and use it to tote my son around (2.5 months old) so I dont wanna go nutso here. I have the option of keeping a bnib 2.75 random tech exhaust or swapping for a header. I think the header will work better for me as I wanna stay low key....and like the stock exhaust sound.

With that setup you will see 270, maybe close to 280 with a really good tune. If you want 300 Bhp you will need to go 2.8 pulley + 60# injectors + downpipe + exhaust + good tune then you *MIGHT* be able to hit 300 Bhp without meth, and with a really good tune.

You do not need all of that to reach 300 BHP.

A 2.9 on 42's with a really good tune & supporting mods will be damn near 300 BHP.

He should be at or around 250 WHP with what he has now.

You need about 250-260 WHP to be at/near 300 BHP.

I said 270 crank which is the same as bhp. Screw bhp. Wheel hp is where it is at. If your going for 300 hp, why not go for a real 300 whp? Meth, 80s, E85 and Ebristol will get you some good numbers.

I put down 240 WHEEL HP with a 3 inch catted down pipe, stock cat-back, modded airbox, 60s, 2.8, and a good tune. If I did a header, intake, and cat-back, it ought to easily be somewhere around 260 WHP, thats all over 300 CRANK HP. It should be about 270 at the crank now.

Is E85 and Meth the only way to make 300 WHP on the M62? Nobody sales E85 around here.

I think it's been done with 93 octane and meth, I think.
