ecotecs are fragile Tune with Care

just an fyi to all, be very careful with aftermarket tunning and/or accsesories. one of the most major resons for gm's delay of the stage kits release was the fact that getting the calibration just right was difficult to say the leaste. On another note I am on my 5th ecotech blown head gasket. already have done three diffrent clutchs, and the list goes on. my warrenty rep from gm basically said if we even think aftermarket played a role in the early demise of an ecotech a gm warrenty rep needs to be consulted before any work is done. if money is no opption to the reader(s) of this please disregard the above. for the rest who would like to have their cars fixed for free for at leaste 3yr/36k tune with care, ecotechs are fragile.

appoligies in advance if I offened anyone I just had to do some ranting.

thanks

I don't know about ecotec's being fragile. If built right, they can hold up to 1,000hp.

Last time I checked, our powertrain was 5y/60k standard. 3y/36k is only bumper to bumper.

Theres not much out there that is available for these cars but the Intese kits and stuff. I say Intake/Header/Exaust and GM stage 1 and 2. Nothing really there to cause problems. I/H/E wont cause a headgasket to go LOL, and GM stage 1 and 2 are covered by GM for the original warranty period. I will be happy with that. If my clutch goes, then I will go stage 2+ with a light weight fly wheel. Also looking into Control arm bushings, but thats it

1) The Ecotec isnt a fragile engine

2) A big part of the delay of the GM staged kits was ....yes , the calibration . But not for durablity as you say ....it was trying to get them 50 state emissions legal .

Any engine can be super weak or super strong. Alot of motors can hold up to 1000hp...but that aint no stock block/heads being used. Not many engines can handle that many HP without some serrrrrrrrrious work! But let's be realistic...no stock engine can handle 1000hp.

-Obviously your doing something wrong with 5 blown head gaskets. Ecotecs are good engines and i havent seen any with blown head gaskets, non the less FIVE i feel bad for GM having to warrenty your mistakes

What's this guy talking about? Chevy has a 500hp cobalt without issues. How do you blow 5 head gaskets? CRAZY!
