Enthusiasts and vendors alike... header testing inside!

Agreeing to disagree..., how two gentlemen have a conversation. I think you would agree that the way things are read over the interwebz can change the context of which something was meant. I would have liked to do things in the way that you have leaned toward, but there are some obstacles I had to find a way to get around two problems.
i've tried the political path, with no real result. That's why I get the feeling that they don't care. Fair is fair though, so I'll try again. Thanks to your inputs though, next year, I will do things differently. I do listen to opinions that have merit to them. And I don't need to check your cred, remember I've been waiting on that setup of yours
I hope you understand better that I took those same variables into account.

I think this whole thing got blown out of proportion.... the whole internet thing.... coupled with my frustration of this forum.... things got out of hand.
I can understand the obstacles you had to overcome, and do give you props for the effort you put in. It would be great if more people in your area could get in on the project (the next time around), by means of donating their header for a day/weekend, or by helping out with the labor intensive stuff. Having a group taking on the task sure helps things run a whole lot more smooth.

It's all good man. I got a good group in my area, it's just most of us are military, so it can be hard for all of us to be in the same place at one time. But it will be done as smooth and accurate as possible next time.

The cometic gasket held up quite well. I think it's the reason why my car held up for another 6 days after the cylinder wall initially cracked. But the bulletproofing really comes from two things. The sleeves and the pistons. The motor itself is pretty stout. But the cylinder walls weren't designed with high boost levels in mind. Darton makes a sleeving kit for our cars now, and there are some on here that already have them installed. The pistons being the other weak link is a pretty easy fix. Just go with the diamond setup and get the total seal ring kit.
i'm going to sleep now, but either post other questions here or in a pm. I'll get back to you.

if your goin to drop the engine take it to oceana and use their lift. or if your at norfolk do it there, not sure how much they charge for storage of your car there but you can pull it out the engine and leave the car there and work at the engine at your leasure. Unless they changed policy on storing vehicles.

I got a 2year contract on the storage. So I'm using that 2 years to buy all the parts I want and get everything done to the head and get some cam grinds worked out. Basically, just putting a lot of money and thought into this. I'm hoping to bring it over to Germany in 2 years though. I'll still have 2 years left here.
