well we never give up on any projects,

Twin Screw - done
Ported Head - done

yes they take long, but we make sure they work 100% in the end.

As for this project we do have an idea, what we want to do is machine off the back portion, insert a copper/tin core inside and build up the back with proper runners. This way the SC will fit perfectly and the lower manifold will be mounted flat. We know from experience that any imperfection in the mounting of the SC can cause it to seize.

Only problems is we have invested in too many projects in the past with very little interest once complete.

We have the full capability to complete this (and we can setup weekly reports) but we will need you guys to invest. For example if we get 20 guys to invest $100 each it would give us some funds to get things moving.

That has got to be a sore spot with the vendors as everyone says they want "something" only to never buy it after the "R&D" is finished and the product available.

I think its hard for vendors in this market. So you gotta give Rebel props. Trying to sell to a bunch of 18-22 year olds has got to be hard. Noone is going to spend more than 300ish for any single mod unless they have serious coin from mommy and daddy. The people who do end up fronting the money are well over that age range or dont go to college and work hard for their 30K a year. Once again. Id throw 100 to get some development going. I think when we start big projects like this it is important to give some ballpark numbers on price before the R n D starts so that people can guage. Props to you guys for getting some cool **** done...

I can setup a list and see if we can get 20, then get the deposit.

We can have the first 20 at cost which will include machining of the manifold, fabrication of the core, machining of the flange to head, the cost of piping for the runners and some welding time.

We can also have the design open to you guys to give some input during the progress.

Why must it be that anyone that owns a cobalt makes under 30k a year? Maybe I am misunderstanding you because its is friday and I am parasitically buzzed. I along with lots of others(I'm 29) on this site make well over 30k and drive a cobalt because I like it not because that is all I can afford. I spend lots of money on my for the right mod not really because I am cheap. These vendors on this site cant have it to bad.

do you have a ballpark figure? 1000,1500,2000? just curious. I would possibly be okay with putting down 100, but if its out of my range when its finished, not realyl worth it then.

Sounds like youre not in the 18-22 year old crowd which most of this site is made up of. I too do not fall into this crowd. Go back and read my comment.

So you guys are FINALLY going through with this. Did PSE come up with a design, or did you guys say F**k it and do your own? Sorry, lol, maybe you don't remember me! I was the one who let you guys use my car for the lower intake manifold so PSE could get the measurements. lol...and after all those pm's I sent you...

anyway, I'll take this up in a pvt message. Lets see some results.

I decided to ditch my laminova based design due to the high costs associated with it.... but it looks like you may have that under control.

The cost of the new tubes for my projects intercooler are crazy expensive, so if this design only costs this little, it really makes this setup attractive for DD's.

I just picked up a 2nd lower intake manifold that i would like to see what kind of options are out there are far as porting it and the laminova cores. Are the low intake ports size matched to the intake ports on the engine? Is there a company that sells aftermarket laminova cores? Is there a replacement for those?

Replied to your PM.

About the cores.... Opcon/Laminova is the only company that sells them in that style/shape.
They only come in select lengths... anything longer than the ones we have now are too big.

They do come in a larger diameter, however, but that would be difficult to use with the stock manifold as well.

Furthermore, GM has ditched using Laminovas in their new engines because of cost and has gone back to radiator style setups again (which is what Magnason was using in their kits before the Laminovas).

I think I'll just sit back and wait, I'm deployed anyway. With fast98/lsjwannabe's modded stock intake manifold and this one coming out, should be a good comparo. We'll see which one gives the best results and which one is more bang for the buck as well.
