g85 performance package
#51
I think the killer of the thing is not going to be the price of the LSD; it's going to be the price of labor. Thats a big job installing somethign like that. But I will just be buying the LSD but I may wait until the performance upgrade package thing comes out cause it might come with it (doubt it since it's already in another package) but you never know.

G85 Performance Package
Quaife America lists the various available differentials and the one for the Cobalt SS/SC and Saturn Redline costs $1445. Add about ten hours labor at the local rate and another $100+ for transoil, seals, etc. and the cost becomes borderline unafforadable. For any one who is interested in what the Quaife ATB LSD can do, a visit to their home page should answer any questions. I think the Quaife operates on the same principle as the Torsen-Drexel but unlike the Torsen is available for a variety of front drive compacts There is a company in Smyrna, GA that makes a LSD for several GM transmissions including the automatic used in the Cobalt. It sells for $595 and in the Pontiac Boards and the GM V-6 boards seems to have a good reputation. Company name: Engineered Performance. I discovered this company after I ordered the Cobalt SS/SC but may go ahead and put it in my Cavalier if I don't sell it this summer. For my part, I ordered the SS/SC because of the Quaife and am quite pleased with the car. The only thing I would add is an F55 suspension, other than some cosmetics, and if Chevy puts the F55 on the Cobalt I will probably trade mine in for it. -- laborsmith
