Gas Milage
#26
Well, in my ****-retentive ways I've been monitoring mileage. It largely depends how much is town or freeway driving as both of those decrease mileage. My daily drive is 8mi hwy, 4.5mi town. I think it only does low 20's even with that mix due to very frequent stopping in those 4.5mi...this town has no extended runs w/out stops and people always darting out into the streets on mopeds, bikes, or on foot. The time I got high 30's was because it was just the portion of driving down the keys which is 45 to 55mph, so that's easy to see. I wish I had a V8, but can live w/ this given the mileage I'm getting. I'm always happy with it when I hear people complaining about their trucks and v8 cars' mileage

27.12731926

PS: Those are from doing the math. The car's computer has been from .2 to 1.5mpg high. My odometer is close but not exactly on either as I've used GPS on trips couple trips.

ive been getting close to 37 mpg on my SS on the open road at 60 mph. Ive found that that is about the best speed to get high gas milage... no boost and lower rpms. anybody else getting this kind of milage? using sunoco ultra 94 gas, flat roads also

the more I go over the 50's mileage tapers off. i'm driving flat roads too. not sure if it makes a difference, but here in key west it's mid 70's winter and high 80's to 90 in summer, always very humid.
i use 93 octane phillips 76 when at home, 93 of whatever brand when going to the mainland.

I have gotten about 17 to 25 in city. Highway I gotten between 25 and 37. On average I can get around 30mpg city/highway with some racing on Friday and Saturday. I think that the car gets really good gas mileage if you stay out of boost but it one of those thing that you can say " I do not really need it but its nice to have it). Also i can get around 280 to 340 miles out of one take of gas.

I get 20-21 in the city, and I haven't quite made it to a long highway drive yet. Charleston trafffic is always stop and go. Boost is fun may also have a factor why it is low too!

I always get 23-26 mph in the city . Trips that have been all hwy I got as high as 32 . That is with me doing the math , the info center never seems to be too far off being accurate though . Just FYI , my mileage has improved ALOT since the car was new . The 1st few thousand miles my gas mileage horrible 17-20 city and bout 20-21 on the highway . For some reason , without change in driving habits the mileage in mine has just got better over time .

When I first picked it up I was getting 22.0mpg, now that I've put 2,600mi on her I'm seeing 24.1mpg at the momment. I have seen up to 29.8mpg on highway, but I'm usually out in the country where I need to shift alot.

How are people getting 35 mpg on the highway?? I have never hit 30 mpg for any significant stretch. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I always drive close to 80 mph on the highway?

If I dirve 110km/h I get really good gas mielage. If I go up to my usual of 120km it drops off a fair bit. It seems almost as though 110 is about it's sweet spot. I really do think this car needs a 6speed just to give it better spacing on the gears and quiet it down on the highway. I'm sure with the Solstice/Sky going to get the 2.0S/C there will be continued corporate support for this engine

Is anyone else getting really crappy mileage even after they've broken their engine in? I'm at 10,000km (as of yesterday) and i still average around 10.5 to 11.5/L per 100km. That's no where near the advertised 8.5L/100km combined city & highway (30 MPG).
I don't get it...I drive at relatively low RPMs and generally drive like i'm trying to save every last drop of gas. 375 - 410 km a tank for my LS just doesn't make sense.
