getting spark plugs??

Hey guys, im really bored today so i was gonna head out to autozone or a local store and pick up some one step colder plugs...my question is what are the best ones to get, do they actually sell them at autozone or would i have to order them?? and wat they should be gapped at...thanks!

oh yea... and i got an 07 ss/sc wit stage 2, airbox mod and gmpp catback..so i figured the colder spark plugs would help right?

sometimes they have them in stock.. sometimes they dont...

The cheapest bet is to get the autolites... i dont think they lost as long as the iriudiums but they are alot cheaper (just under $8 for all 4, ngk were like 32 dollars)

I didnt change the gap in mine... maybe i should and ill notice something?

and yes absolutely will help.

I'm running these with a gap of 38 ...bought them at Advanced Auto ...these are copper not iridium so they're not nearly as expensive...you'll need to change them more often, but it's so easy it's worth it, copper is the best conductor anyways.

i jus got the NGK BKR7E at NAPA auto parts for 10 bucks for four....when i was there the guy commented that since their iridium your not supposed to gap them because it will ruin them...is this true, no gapping required?

They should be copper not iridium. I don' t think homey knew what he sold you. Start the gap anywhere form .040 and .035 and go from there.

^^^yeah, he's right...the iridiums end in IEX I think

the iridium tip is very delicate, so you're not suppose to gap them....I don't know what to tell you though, I've never heard of not at least making sure the gap is right. Hopefully someone has more insight on this one

.035 autolite 3922 or bkr7e (copper)...consistent idle at about 800rpm. That's good for stage 2+ They sell both at autozone or performance auto but may have to order them from a different store.

ends in IX for iridium.

those are copper plugs you need to gap them from .034 to .038 depending on what feel you want...at least that's what I do.

Copper don't last much longer than a oil change or two. Iridium's last much longer, but your not supposed to gap them . I went the copper route , i don't mind changing them more often , and i like to test different gap's .

Well...gap changes idle. The smaller the gap the higher your idle will be (don't quote me on this). A good idle is 800-900 in my opinion. Having a higher idle doesn't mean you reach power quicker it just runs rougher imo. Smooth for me was .035 with autolite 3922 (step 1). It all depends on the car you have, it's tune, and it's upgrades.

Copper plugs in our cars should be changed every oil change (what I do) but honestly I had the factory plugs for 20k miles...and most daily drivers get a "tune up" at 35k miles where the plugs are changed and factory plugs are mainly copper.
