GM Performance Cams

First off sorry if this is a re-post but this caught my interest. I was browsing CED and found this....

"88958637 Performance Intake camshaft.
Exhaust Lift 0.499"
Exhaust Duration @ .050" 249
Installed @ (BTDC) 117 Deg
Lifter Type Mechanical
Lash .005-.007"
This is not a stock-replacement cam; this will require Bates race valve springs and retainers to avoid coil bind.

These cams were designed for a race motor, using the ‘06 L61 as the starting point.
The cams will not fit the 2.4L LE5 head and will not work with the stock ECM or lifters. They physically fit the 2.0L LSJ head, but the vacuum pump / cam sensor will not work in a stock engine."

So I notice that it says it doesn't work with the LSJ but when it says, "...They physically fit the 2.0L LSJ head, but the vacuum pump / cam sensor will not work in a stock engine." But what exactly does that mean, and is it possible to effectively make them work?

You can't use them unless you re-set the cam sensor drive hex. Well, technically you can use them, but you will never get the car to start right, as the cam sensor will be off.

Is this also true with aftermarket cams for the lsj. If not then why?

Most aftermarket LSJ cams are reground stock LSJ cams, so everything is setup right to begin with. Cams designed for a 2.2 don't have to have the hex in a certain spot, so they can be left alone and just ground and still work perfectly in the 2.2 applications.
