GM Performance Parts Catalog
I just picked up the 2006 GM performance parts catalog. There are quite a few upgrades available for the Cobalt Ecotec engine including a set of pistons GM recommends for engines expected to run over 650 HP. Highly recommend picking one up, there free. Parts guy at the Chevrolet dealer said the new New 2007 catalog is due to come out soon.

I'm old school
Catalog may be new, but the parts for the ecotec have been around for about 3 years. There are actually 3 different sets of GMPP pistons out there. I have a set of the forged aluminum stock replacement pistons that are actually manufactured by JEPistons for GMPP.

I was just impressed that there are so many parts for an American sport compact. When I look through magazines I don't see parts advertised for the Cobalt. Mostly import parts.
Upgrades will be difficult beyond a Stage II kit as I am trying to go to school for automotive in the fall. It's been a few years since I worked in a garage and I need to learn more about modern cars.

When I was at the dealer the other day the head tech said something about a GMPP strut package that had just come out for the Cobalts... anyone heard anything about this?

Tell him PFM said to call and get the parts at a discount. Best time to call is on Saturday between 10:00am and 2:00pm Eastern Standard Time.
