GM Tech says no warrenty with K&N?
Just got back from bringing my car in for a CEL (Solid) with a leaning out code? I brought the car in yesterday and GM ordered a new MAF. They said that the K&N is the cause of all the problems? I just have the (E-1009) filter they said if the filter stays on they will void the warrenty on the MAF sensor?? I think this is BS I have owned K&N intakes and filters and used them in all my cars with/without a MAF sensor....I talked too K&N and they said there filters don't void the warrenty on a new car....Can someone help me out here??????? Colin
Oh! And I just ordered a new K&N Typhoon intake from Modern Performance....What can I do? Is the filter the problem....Almost forgot that the K&N (E-1009) has the original factory oil I have not oiled the filter....Colin

someone else posted the actual info on what voids the warranty about the aftermarket intakes. the only way it will void the warranty is if the excess oil gets on the maf and ruins it. the filter itself will not void the warranty

I heard about the excess oil causing the MAF too have problems but I just bought the filter took it out of the box and put it on the intake? K&N told me that the pre-oil that K&N puts on should have no problems with the MAF?????

Magnuss & Moss warranty act - the dealership has to prove that the mod is what caused the issue at hand. In this case, the K&N filter can void the warranty because of the oil. Factory air filter does not require oil. Some dealership mechanics are cool, and some are not- thats what it boils down to. My truck is modded and still under warranty, I took it to the dealer for a squeek coming from the front end, and they raised the hood, seen the chrome intake and told me to get lost. I advised them of the M&M warr. act and they didnt give a ****. I called the region mgr and the next day the dealership buckled. I instead took it to another dealership, and they fixed it with no questions asked. Honestly, it's more of a hassle than it's worth. If you cant find a cool dealership, then just do mods that can be easily removed.

Where is my AEM dry filter Roger!
Carl: They can not honor your warrenty on the *MAF* sensor because you put an oiled filter on your car and that can mess with the MAF sensor. K&N can say it won't void your warrenty till it's blue in the face, but obviously they have no control over it

LOL
Not sure whether they are selling Dry Flow filters by themselves yet. We are working overtime to produce these new ones. We have gotten tons of positive response on them so far from all of our accounts.
In case you haven't read on it, you can see more info here: http://trucks.aempower.com/
They are only shipping currently with Brute Force intakes, and as filter production increases, all the import intakes will be switched over.

Do they make a filter for the trailblazer cause with a few mods that will fit our car.

welcome to the world of the skittle, where a new blow off valve will void your warranty. a new intake will void your warranty. where motor mount inserts will void your warranty.

you obviously don't know much about the skittle. For one the stock motor mounts are crap b/c dodge wanted to be cheap. They are the same mounts from the regular neon (130 hp) and don't hold up to well on the srt and under hard driving may the motor to shift alot and dent/crack the oil pan. Dodge (well the dealers at least) is/was trying to void COMPLETE powertrain warranties left and right for minor things. Maybe you've never been to srtforums where the most common n00b question is will X void my warranty?
cliff note. Voiding the warranty for that specific part is one thing...for the whole motor is another.

Hey Zinner....Have you had any CEL lights with your K&N Filter? I talked too K&N tech on the phone he told me that filter (E-1009) mite cause too much tubulance so the CEL will come on as a result. He explained that they test the filters for sertain airflow too meet the car specifications. He told me when the Typoon intake for the SS/SC comes out it will be the required filter size for that application...he said they have had no CEL's come on with the Typoon intake for the SS under hours of testing....He told me too remove the E-1009 as it mite be too big for the application...install the stock filter...and wait till the proper intake comes out.....Colin
