Good news 2.0 peeps!

Thats right GM is NOT dropping the SC cars for 2008! WOO HOO! I know how do yo know right? My friend Jason called me with his new copy of Motor Trend magizine and it says the SC 2.0 is an option!

Bad news for you is that the 2.2 and 2.4's are supposed to get a HP jump by 20 more ponies. Don't have all the details, he said he'd bring the mag over tomorrow and when he does I'll post as much info as I can for you guys.

BTW it doesn't say anything about a white SS/Sc either.

Jack if this doesn't pan out it could cost you a lot of those "rep" points.

So this would mean that all my modding of the 2.2 was for nothing!? Oh well, more incentive to dig deeper!

The Mag is already in my friends hands I'll get it tomorrow from him, maybe the next day and I'll post direct quotes from it.

No turbo, stage kits will be offered as FACTORY options now, not just dealer ones!

Thanks almost forgot! He said the 2008's have leather trimed seats OR OPTIONAL RECAROS! Now if Motor Trend is wrong I'll be pissed but thats what he read to me over the phone not 20 min ago.

Has no info on a SS model for the 2008 model year. Only base and sport.

Strange....but true. Jason isn't bright enough to make up the kind of stuff he was reading to me over the phone. Its gotta be true, I mean it is after all Motor Trend they tend to know whats going on and be closer to whats right then anyone else I've seen so far.

I checked Motor Trend's website... no mention of it either.

I think it's speculation.

I hope this is right... I don't want my car to die off so soon - I've only had it for 6 months.

It also supports a bigger aftermarket if it sticks around for another year, no problem with that at all.

I wonder how they bumped up the power so much on the 2.2 and 2.4. Direct Injection maybe?

He has a subscription so its probly not on news stands yet he just got it today which means it'll be almost a month before it hits news stands.

Thats the ONLY thing I can think of too. It said the HP jumped up by 20 horses yet mileage and emissions remained the same. I don't see any other way to get it to do that does anyone else?

This is total bull.

No way Chevy introduced two new engines in the Cobalt for the 2008 model year. Think about it for a minute now. We've seen the dealer ordering guidelines that have no SS Cobalts on there at all... and now Motor Trend breaks the news?

Come on.

Not the engines, it'd be just the heads if its true. And if the HP does go up that much what else could it be?

Motor Trend breaks news al the time man, in fact car companies clamp down on some stuff just so they can anounce it in magizines. Besides dealers are completely clueless as to whats coming out till it arrives on thier lot. Remember I worked for one for almost 4 years? Well they didn't know the Cobalt would be super charged till I told them!

You can't rely on the dealers bro they have no clue.

Sorry, I gotta call BS on this one too.

Everything I have read said the LSJ is dead. They have no production plans for it anymore. And you can't get 20 more horsepower out of an engine by magic. In 2007, the L61 got a new exhaust cam and head ports that gave it a couple more horses. Getting 20 more would require either a change in compression (requiring the use of premium gas, which they won't do), or some kind of major intake and exhaust system change, which would screw up their 50 state emissions.

Even if I see the article, I still say it's a magazine, and not a GM publication.
