Post Got HPTuned Today! Screenshots!

Got tuned today by 06blackg85ss. Mods are in my garage.

Here is the very first run and the final run.

Original Run:

3.9 Knock Retard
AFR 14.7

Last Run:

0.7 Knock Retard
AFR 11.6

*I also saw 16.69 psi @6,444rpm with this 2.9" pulley.

The first run

didnt like 18 deg of timing lol... also in need of some 60's

The final run

only a little kr .8 or so, but IDC is up over 120% so yeah... 60's
btw don't go by what the aem wb says... the aem wasn't hooked up that was just one of my PID's and for some reason always says 12.8 when nothing is connected.

Wow, 121% inj cycle on 2.9!? Wonder how GM stage II pulley would be. Guess this means I'm not going to Stage III pulley on 42.5 pounders! Good info, thank for sharing!

I will be at the dyno day. I'm not dynoing just going to watch and hang out.
You should get this setup. It's lightly agressive and good for daily driving.

Yeah that's crazy right? 121% with the 2.9

I am rarely up near 7K so i'm ok for now.

Might go with 60's later on. Glad I could help.

Glad to see you joined that ranks of the HPT club CT.

For all you guys that want to go with the 60#, here is something to ponder.

THERE SHOULD BE NO NEED FOR 60's ON A 2.9!!! (Caps intended) I understand that elevation plays a part tho.

I just finished a tune for my roommate for a 2.8 w/ 60's and at cruise he see's 1-2% IDC. WOT is 40%. That's low for cruise IDC%. I personally think he shouldn't have jumped straight to 60's.

I am running STOCK w/ magnaflow, airbox, and 3.0 and have an IDC of 82% at 7.2k rpm. A/F of 12.8

ok, this makes me really wonder if seeing that kind of IDC is user error or programing error. It seems that what people get for IDC's with the 2.9 and 42lb injectors go from anywhere between 90-120ish idc's! I'm mostly at sea level where i am. No idea how that plays a part in this. I should be getting some really nice dense air.

Thanks mang. It's a nice rank to be at.

I don't think i'm going to go with 60's for a while. We'll see.

I hear you man. I din't think a 2.9 would call for 60's either.

That's what it says though. I was shocked.

the reason for the jump is the stock stage II tune was calling for a commanded Afr of 12.8 or so with that pulley. originally only going up to about 88% IDC but since his wideband isn't hooked up yet I went a little safer and added a little fuel with a commanded afr of 11.60 (should be @12.0:1 actual) once he gets the wideband I can tune the fuel a little better.
And for user error, trust me that calculation is correct. I"ve seen with a 7k rpm 3" pulley on stock injectors go into the 140% range... very scary.
and most of the time people using HPT never configure for the proper IDC reading, since the way it comes is incorrect for our cars.

I see 42's as kind of a waste if you really plan on modding past a stock stage II tune/redline/pulley. If you are going to change stuff around spend the money on 60's and a good tune and it will still be less than what gm stage II costs ya. ( and I don't overcharge for installs either..lol)

well if your elevation isn't like 15 ft above sea level like by me.. you should be in the upper 80's to low 90's with the stock stage II tune.

The wideband and the aeroforce will be hooked up by the time we all meet at the track in Lebanon.

We can tweak it there. Runs great right now though. I'll stay away from 7K till then.

I live on cape cod, so yeah, i'm basically sea level. Thank god for lower elevations. So, presumably, i'm safe? I plan on adding full exhaust at some point with this current pulley size and intake. anything i should watch out for? is it time for a wideband?

no lower elevation = greater air density= higher IDC (more air needs more fuel)

If you really don't understand it, don't mess with it. you can really screw up a lot of ****.
but best thing is to read the FAQ they have up on the site. www.hptuners.com and you can learn a lot.

He ain't lieing poolboyz02. That's why I went to Paul.

Better to let someone who has done it a bunch of times handle it.

I would love to learn someday as well though. It would be cool if you could virtually tune a car and learn that way.

that would be nice... but unfortunatly the nature of these cars makes that a bit difficult no 2 take to a tune the same it seems.. damn finicky cars..
but I"ll be trying a few things out this week. stay tuned for some more updates
